At your Dental Examination, your dentist may:
carry out a full examination of your mouth, teeth and gums
ask about your general health and any problems you have had with your teeth, mouth or gums since your last visit
ask about and give advice on your diet, smoking and drinking
ask about your teeth-cleaning habits and give you advice on the most appropriate ways to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy
explain any risks, as well as dental costs, of all treatment you may need
discuss with you when your next visit should be
Many of us have got used to going to the dentist every six months but you might need to go more often or less often than this depending on how healthy your mouth and teeth are. Your dentist should talk to you about when you should have your next appointment.
If you have problems with your teeth between check-ups, contact your dental practice to make an earlier appointment.
It is important to decide whether you want to become a Private/Denplan patient or an NHS patient. It will be useful to study the website in order to understand the various treatment options and payment plans available to you here at the practice. We currently have availability for patients at the practice with our team. Please contact the reception team to discuss your requirements book an appropriate appointment.
On your arrival at the practice please report to reception and talk to one of the reception team. On your first appointment it is really helpful to arrive 15 minutes early to enable us to have time to complete all the administration.
You will be given a medical history form to complete before you meet the dentist, so you may find it useful to bring a current prescription from your doctor if you have a complex list of drugs. This helps the dentist to decide on the best sorts of treatment for you. It would also be helpful if you would bring contact details of your doctor. You can fill in the form in our waiting room and feel free to ask the reception team for any help or advice.
When it is time for your appointment, a nurse will come to the waiting room and collect you in order to escort you to the correct surgery and where you will introduced to the dental team who will providing your care.
