A bridge offers a smile enhancing way to fill the gaps left by missing teeth. without the need for dentures. It consists of an imitation tooth (a pontic) positioned between two crowns that fit over the teeth either side of the gap. As well as filling in gaps, bridges can improve chewing ability and speech, and prevent the movement of any natural teeth.
We will slightly reduce the size of the teeth either side of the gap so the crowns will fit perfectly.
We then take impressions of your teeth so your bridge can be tailor-made for you.
While you are waiting for this specially designed bridge, a temporary restoration will be fixed in place to protect your teeth.
When ready, your bridge will be checked and adjusted so it is a perfect fit, then put in place permanently with dental cement.
As well as repairing a tooth to restore its strength and function, a crown can make a damaged tooth look just like new. A crown is a ‘cap’ that slots over a broken, decayed or discoloured tooth. They can also be used to support a dental bridge or affixed to a dental implant, and are made from a variety of materials including gold, porcelain, resin or ceramic.
After numbing the area, we remove a thin top layer of your tooth so the crown will fit neatly.
We take impressions of this prepared tooth and record its colour.
Your crown is then custom made in a laboratory and while you wait for it to be produced, your prepared tooth will be protected with a temporary restoration.
When ready, the brand new crown is fitted over your tooth.
