About 34th Street Dental

34th Street Dental is a general dentistry practice on West 35th Street in the Garment District of Manhattan, New York, a short walk from Penn Station, Herald Square, and the Midtown West office district. The office provides everyday dental care for adults and is a convenient choice for both local residents and commuters.

General dentistry forms the core of the practice — comprehensive examinations, professional cleanings, tooth-colored fillings, and monitoring for tooth decay and gum disease. Regular preventive visits are the most dependable way to keep small problems from developing into larger ones, and a thorough cleaning supports both the comfort and the appearance of a healthy smile.

Beyond routine care, the practice handles treatment when a problem arises, including root canal therapy to relieve pain and save an infected tooth. The office also offers sedation dentistry, which helps patients stay calm and comfortable during treatment.

A defining focus of the practice is care for anxious patients. Many people feel real apprehension about dental visits, and the team is set up to address it — explaining each step, checking in frequently during procedures, and using sedation options where appropriate so that even nervous patients can complete the treatment they need.

The practice serves as a long-term dental home for many families, with patients returning across years and generations, and the office handles routine needs such as checkups, cleanings, and night guards alongside more involved care.

A new-patient visit usually begins with an examination and cleaning, with any findings explained clearly before further treatment is planned.

For commuters, a practice steps from Penn Station makes routine care easy to fit around a work schedule, and for patients who have avoided the dentist out of anxiety, being able to plan a calm, sedation-supported visit is often what finally makes regular care possible.

The West 35th Street location is convenient to Penn Station, Herald Square, and the surrounding Midtown West neighborhoods, and is served by a wide range of nearby subway lines. Ok. I give good and bad reviews depending on service. I am big on Customer Service and have trained, hired staff and fired staff for delivering poor customer service. With that being said, I am afraid of the dentist and when I am told there is a needle and drill involved I hesitate to go, and my experience has been that the staff don't make it any better and I feel the frustration of the Dentist trying to get ne to open my mouth. This time it was an emergency , because my filling feel out. I was told they would see me at 10:00 am. First I was surprised that they had a opening (thinking why - they don't have patients)., Any way I spoke to Dyynasty who was on it and when I arrived she made me feel comfortable and listened to me babble about being nervous and reassure me I was going to be fine. The rest of the staff that took care of me was the same ( they did not have the OMG another one look). Dr. Ellie Halabian, My Dentist (Yes, I am owning her). Let me go on and on about needles and then took control by first putting numbing gel on my gums, and when I saw the needle ( I was panicking) had me doing breathing exercises, which I must say worked. She also talked me through the entire process of what was going to happen, what i was seeing on the ex-rays, and what to expect now and the next appointment. My first good experience with a dentist in 25 years! o I had to give a 5 rating. I am still scared of the dentist, but if I must 34th Street Dental is where I am going.

34th Street Dental is great! From the front desk to the dental hygienist as well as the doctor's. I have been going there for well over a decade.

Booked an appointment specifically with one doctor for an extraction and bone graft after waiting weeks for availability. I did a lot of research beforehand, and since he had no earlier availability, I booked almost 5 weeks ahead for the procedure. Today, after finally arriving at the clinic, I was told by the assistant that he is no longer with the practice. Nobody contacted me in advance to let me know. Instead, another doctor was supposed to perform the procedure, and the clinic manager only mentioned a “family emergency.” For a serious procedure like this, patients deserve transparency and proper communication. Extremely disappointing experience and a complete waste of time and planning.

Used to be a good dental office. I’ve come here for several years. Quality of service declined a lot in recent years, maybe due to PE ownership . Just had the worst experience with front office staff. Will not be going back again.

Waited in the chair for an hour for my root canal to get started, but staff was apologetic and the procedure went well.

I've been coming here for years. The office changed staff many many times. I've never had a billing problem, ever. I've recommended them to my coworkers. Most of them loved it until they almost got scammed. I was soooo embarrassed hearing all their billing issues and inconsistent pricing when I was the one that told them to go there. Smh. I have excellent coverage. I was told I need a big surgery.and my insurance won't cover it. Lies. I called my insurance after I left the office. Both procedures are covered 60-80%. I called back. They said the billing person was out for 2 days. They called me the next day and said im not covered. They wouldnt tell me who they spoke to at my insurance company. Of course, because they didn't even call them! My insurance rep didn't even see any claims from that office. Something fishy is going on. I found a new dental specialist and my procedures ARE covered. If you do not have insurance, this is the place for you. They want out of pocket money real bad. No claims. No insurance. Do your research before you proceed. Used to love this place. Very disappointed.

So generally, the hygeniest and dentists have been good here. This is a PE owned dental office and I have rarely been seen by the same dentist twice. There seems to be a revolving door here. I have a problem with the front office communication both around benefits and costs of procedures. They have never accurately read my insurance to understand I am covered for 4 cleanings a year. Likewise they failed to notify me that my new insurance was out of network until after I got a standard filling and it ended up being almost triple what I would have paid for an in network filling. When I brought this up to them, the front office's apathy towards this missed communication left me very disappointed in the whole experience. I won't be going back (given I also just found out I am out of network on my last appointment) and would recommend people check their insurance/rely on their own research rather than trust the front office to notify you of what your benefits cover.

Not sure how this place gets 4.7 star reviews but my whole experience was horrible. Went for a hygienist and its the first time i ever went for teeth cleaning and it was only one person. She left the suction hanging in my mouth and it kept sucking my cheeks inside i flinched many times, completely ignored, and the suction got stuck in my cheeks inside and bruised me!! And after a while the hygienist was like oh i see what you mean it pinched you. And the cleaning was not the best!!! My teeth still felt sandy from the inside and she didnt even floss??? Never been a dentist that doesnt floss your teeth on your hygienist appointment. Yes she was nice and taught me some techniques. Every dentist i have been to, always two people working, this clinic is just all about saving money. Then i got an orthodontist consultation and he was soooo pushy on removIng ALL wisdom tooth in one sitting. I tried to voice my concerns and the dentist was not even hearing what I am saying only pushing one agenda!! I have never seen a doctor push one agenda on a patient and my case is not emergent that I had to take all four out. He literally went to the front desk and said ok book her for wisdom tooth removal although i explicitly said let me think about it. For sure this place number one care is milking money and not actually listening or caring for the patient. For sure switching dentists. First and last time

I want to start by saying that I am petrified of the dentist- I get the worst anxiety whenever I have to go. That being said, I recently needed a root canal and was so nervous about the whole experience. The entire team at this office is incredible. From the receptionist and financial department to the assistants and dentists, everyone is fantastic. Dr. Chang and Genesis performed my root canal, and I have nothing but amazing things to say. I didn’t feel anything, they checked in on me frequently, and most importantly they helped calm my nerves and made me feel comfortable the entire time. My actual dentist, Dr. Vimo, is the best! She’s so sweet, honest, patient, and incredibly helpful. I honestly love her. As someone who usually hates going to the dentist, they’ve completely changed the experience for me and made every visit feel easy and comfortable. I cant recommend them enough!

The office itself is decent and most of the front desk staff are friendly and professional. However, dealing with billing or insurance issues here can be very frustrating. The manager who handles those matters often comes across as dismissive, rude, and unhelpful when trying to resolve concerns. I’ve had multiple situations where simple billing questions turned into unnecessarily difficult interactions. It’s unfortunate because the rest of the team is generally pleasant. Hopefully management improves their approach to patient concerns in the future or they hire someone that actually cares about the patient experience.

Dr.Goykhman was absolutely fantastic, she was able to help me figure out what was wrong and she made me an appt to see the oral surgeon to get my wisdom teeth removed. Absolutely love this practice my parents have been coming here for years. Highly recommend if you need your cleaning or any dental work done.
