About Acorn Dentistry for Kids - East Salem
Acorn Dentistry for Kids - East Salem operates on Lancaster Drive Northeast in the Northeast Salem area of Salem, Oregon. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. Hi, my son David was so happy , he asks ,mom when we are gonna go to the dentist, I can't wait , let's go , he said he loves your place 💙 ❤️ 😊really nice people working there..... my daughter loves your place, thank you we appreciate you🥰
Everyone is always so caring, respectful. Always let's us know what is going on each step of the way.
We usually have a great experience and today they went above that. My kid isn’t the biggest fan of X-rays and our dental assistant could tell. As soon as she pressed the button to take the X-ray, she would hurry to remove the X-ray thing in my kids mouth so she wouldn’t have to hold it in longer than necessary. She was so encouraging and supportive through her actions that it inspired my kid to sit still long enough to to do what needed to be done - and still leave with a smile on her face (and a toy from the toy tower). Isa and Dr. Samia, thank you
Absolutely wonderful, thorough while gentle, helpful, educating, and care kiddos can feel. Plus the waiting room is so fun with so many things for kiddo to explore while you wait. Made the appointment a breeze for our one year old son. Fantastic new patient care! Totally recommend.
Another wonderful visit to Acorn Dentistry! My 8 yr old absolutely looks forward to his dentist appointments. The staff are so patient and kind. The dentist always has time to sit and answer my questions and never makes me feel rushed.
Acorn Dental has totally exceeded my expectations and I have been so happy with the quality of their care. My kiddos have found a great pediatric dentist here and the office staff are so warm, inviting, caring and sweet! The atmosphere is so very different than all the previous offices we have visited. My daughter had her exam and cleaning on 01/20/26 and then needed a filling, so the lovely reception ladies were able to get her in within 24 hours!! Yep, we came right back the next day and got that taken care of! We’ve taken our kiddos (7 total), to several places within Oregon and also Iowa, Kansas, Arizona and California!! None of the other offices can hold a candle to Acorn. Some had videos for the kitties to watch during treatment, or some gave out tokens after the appointment to use in the gum all type machines, etc., but Acorn has it ALL! We will now be looking forward to bringing our children In twice a year!
Acorn Dentistry did a great job keeping me posted on my son‘s dental work. Everyone was very friendly and cooperative. I love the atmosphere of this office and how kid friendly is. The only thing I would change is if you’re getting an extraction that they provide Tylenol, Motrin, and a special mouthwash to take home.
