About Adult Dentistry of Ballantyne
Adult Dentistry of Ballantyne operates on Ballantyne Commons Parkway in the Piper Glen area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.
Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.
Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.
Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.
Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.
Prosthetic dentistry is the branch concerned with replacing missing teeth and restoring damaged ones — dentures, bridges, crowns, and implant-supported restorations all sit within this area, chosen based on how much natural tooth and bone remain.
Comprehensive care generally means a practice can handle most of a patient's dental needs in-house — preventive, restorative, and often minor cosmetic or surgical treatment — reducing how often patients are referred elsewhere for routine work. The entire staff at Dr. Harrell’s office is outstanding. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Harrell's professional expertise and have been extremely pleased with every aspect of my dental care.
Outstanding expertise , personal attention and care, thorough examination, amazing customer service, an experience that surpasses all expectations.
I was so very impressed with EVERYONE in Dr. HARRELL’s (sp.?) BALLENTYNE ADULT DENTISTRY! Patient, professional, kind….. informative! Took time to explain the options (and the process of the work needed). First class experience. 10++++++!
My family has been patients for 17 years and have always been extremely pleased with the service and efficiency of Dr. Harrell's office. There is very little "turn-over" in their staff and they are always very friendly and helpful.
I cannot say enough amazing things about the staff here! My mother who avoided dentists for decades because of many prior terrible experiences needed pretty extensive work done. We were new to the area so I began doing research about dentists and stumbled upon the office from a Google search. So glad I did! From the very first communications to set up the appointment all the way through her work being completed it was an absolute pleasure. The entire staff is warm, knowledgeable, funny, and so amazing at what they do! I don't care if we move across the country this will be our dentist for life!
I cannot recommend Dr Harrell enough! Finding a dentist who is both highly skilled and genuinely friendly is rare. From the moment I walked in, he and his team made me feel completely at ease. He was incredibly professional, walked me through every step of my procedure, and ensured I was comfortable the entire time. The quality of his work is top-notch, and you can tell he truly cares about his patients. If you are looking for a trustworthy dentist who takes the anxiety out of dental visits, Dr Harrell is the best!
After many years of avoiding the dentist due to the embarrassment of my teeth & anxiety, my husband introduced me to Dr. Harrell and I decided it was finally time to do something about my teeth. From the very first visit, Dr. Harrell and all of his staff were so friendly & welcoming. I decided on doing veneers (something I had dreamed of doing for a very long time) & the process was so easy and the results were exactly everything I had imagined and hoped for (and more)! I cannot recommend Adult Dentistry of Ballantyne and Dr. Harrell enough. Thank you so much to all his staff for being so kind & for making my smile dreams come true! 💛😊
Dr. Harrell and his assistants-Hunter, Ashley, and the front desk folks were all excellent for my recent visit. They also really helped me when I had an overseas dental emergency, assisting even during off-hours. Now they are working with me to make sure long distance dental issues are minimal. Thank you to Dr. Harrell and his team!
Dr Harrell is a stellar dentist who meets the needs of his patients with expertise, common sense, and compassion. He has tended to the teeth of our family for years, and he has done so with attentiveness and skill every time. His staff is gracious and kind, and we always feel comfortable in his care. If you want a dentist who is not only highly skilled with knowledge of up-to-date treatments but also kind and comforting, he’s your choice. We love him!
I had a consultation here today to discuss having a bunch of cavities filled through sedation dentistry because I have a strong gag reflex. My usual dentist (Dr Grant at Markham & Hair, who is wonderful) thought I should look into sedation but the office couldn’t refer me to a practice that currently does it, so I sought one out on my own. I chose Adult Dentistry because it was close and had excellent reviews. I left a message asking for a consultation and got a call back almost immediately. I think the appointment was about 2 weeks out. This is a really nice, well-furnished facility with a waiting room that felt downright cozy with its Christmas decorations, mock fireplace, calm lighting and UHD TV showing serene footage of a wintry English countryside. I almost asked where they got the mercury glass trees on the coffee table. If you’re coming here because you have anxiety surrounding dentist visits, the waiting room will put you at ease. The receptionist was perky and friendly. I liked her. I got called in quickly because I had already filled out all my paperwork online. They did imaging on me. I’m not sure what it’s called, but it’s the thing where you bite down on something with your front teeth while a piece of machinery whirls around your head. Like I said, I was there because of my gag reflex, so this was a huge relief. My nurse, Ashley, was very sweet. She led me back to a room with a huge screen that displayed the results of the imaging. I was super impressed. I’ve had imaging done with a device like that at 2 different practices and none of them provided images of so many angles. There was a 3D rendering of a mouth that I assumed was generic until I noticed that it had the same uneven front teeth as I do. Wow, talk about high tech! The room was comfortable and fairly quiet besides the Christmas music and some small talk I could overhear from another room. The morning sun was shining through the blinds into my eyes a little, but they had sunglasses ready to go. I usually bring my own, so that was nice. I told the nurse why I was there and offered to submit the imaging done at my regular dentist’s office, but I couldn’t find the file on my phone. She said she’d get in touch with my dentist to ask for it. She told me to wait while she spoke to the dentist. I’m not sure who I was supposed to see. After a few minutes, she came back and told me that the type of sedation that dentists in NC are allowed to provide is mild and doesn’t suppress your gag reflex. She said she didn’t want to waste my time by lying about what they were capable of doing and said I wouldn’t be charged for the visit. I appreciated their honesty. There are plenty of dishonest dental practices out there looking to make a buck—I’ve gone to one—and this isn’t one of them. She gave me contact info for a dentist in Rock Hill. Apparently they’re allowed to do IV sedation in SC, which she said is probably what I’m looking for. All in all, it was a great experience even though I didn’t end up going to them for sedation. I would definitely return if I wanted cosmetic work done.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Adult Dentistry of Ballantyne. I’ve been coming here for years, and every experience whether it’s a cleaning (thank you Teresa), bridgework, or my most recent dental implants, has been nothing short of amazing. Dr. Harrell is not only incredibly talented, but also kind, patient, and truly committed to doing what’s best for his patients. The whole team makes me feel comfortable and cared for every time I walk through the door. Their level of service is unmatched, and I honestly wouldn’t trust anyone else with my dental care. Dr. Harrell and his staff are simply exceptional.
