About Advanced Dental Care of Springfield

Out on Springfield's far west side, Wabash Avenue past Veterans Parkway is the artery carrying traffic toward Chatham and the newer subdivisions, and 4701 sits directly on it with its own parking. That makes it a straightforward stop for households in west Springfield, Leland Grove, Jerome and Chatham, and for anyone who would rather not drive into the older grid near the Lincoln sites to see a dentist. The Friday schedule is the standout: doors open at 7 a.m. and close at 2 p.m., while Monday and Tuesday run through to 6 p.m. Between the two, early risers and after-work patients both have a route in without burning a vacation day.

Dr. John Neely and Dr. Victoria Driskill run a full-service general practice covering checkups and cleanings, periodontal therapy, fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, extractions, veneers and whitening, emergency visits, and implant work that extends to full-arch All-on-4. Sedation is offered, and the distinction between sedation and anesthesia is one patients regularly get backwards. Nitrous oxide is inhaled, takes effect within minutes, and clears fast enough that you can normally drive yourself home. Oral sedation is a tablet taken before the appointment that leaves you drowsy and vague on the details, and it requires a driver. Neither of them numbs the tooth. Local anesthetic still does that work; what sedation removes is the anxiety and the sense of how long you have been in the chair.

On full-arch implants, candidacy hinges on bone rather than on how many teeth are failing. All-on-4 angles the two rear implants forward to make use of the denser bone at the front of the jaw and steer clear of the sinus, which is why it can sometimes proceed without extensive grafting, but a three-dimensional scan is what decides whether that bone is genuinely there. Uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking and untreated gum disease all affect healing and get discussed before anyone commits. Worth knowing too: a full arch on four implants receives a temporary bridge at the outset, and the definitive prosthesis is not made until months afterwards, once the bone has integrated and the gum has stopped changing shape. Insurance is filed on your behalf, and financing through Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit is available for treatment that outruns a plan's annual maximum, which implant and full-arch cases routinely do.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sedation options are available, and will I still need an injection?
Sedation and anesthesia do different jobs. Nitrous oxide relaxes you, takes effect within minutes, and clears fast enough that you can usually drive home. Oral sedation is a tablet taken beforehand that leaves you drowsy and vague on the details, and you will need a driver. Neither one numbs the tooth, because local anesthetic still does that work. What sedation removes is the anxiety and the sense of how long you have been in the chair.
Am I a candidate for All-on-4 full-arch implants?
It depends on bone, not on how many teeth are failing. All-on-4 angles the two rear implants forward to use the denser bone at the front of the jaw and avoid the sinus, which is why it can sometimes proceed without extensive grafting. A three-dimensional scan measures whether that bone volume is genuinely there. Uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking and untreated gum disease all affect healing and are discussed before anyone commits to surgery.
How can treatment be paid for if insurance does not cover all of it?
The office files dental insurance and works with third-party financing through Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit, which spread larger treatment across monthly payments. That is most relevant for implants and full-arch work, where the cost usually exceeds a plan's annual maximum within a single year. Splitting a treatment plan across two benefit years is sometimes the cheaper route, so it is worth asking whether your case allows that before you finance anything.

I hated dentists my entire life. I never could find one that I trusted. Everything changed when I met Dr. Neely and his staff. It is a professionally run office that makes you feel very welcome and comfortable. Dr. Neely is so knowledgeable in his field. So refreshing! I don’t mind going to the dentist anymore. At all. Appointments are kept almost to the minute, barring any emergencies they may have had during the day. I’ve never had to wait more than five minutes to be called back. Very efficiently run office.

The front office staff are friendly, tactful, and organized. The dental hygienists and assistants are also very professional and super nice. They do a fantastic job explaining things and follow very organized processes. Dr. Driskill is just the most amazing dentist I have ever had working in my mouth. Her bedside is so friendly and professional. I was treated with much care and respect. I appreciate her knowledge and expertise in the dental profession. I can tell she loves what she does as much as she knows what she’s doing! Fabulous experience and 10 out of 10 highly recommend! 🫶🏾

First rate service and treatment as I’ve come to expect. Every employee is very friendly. They all like each other and love what they do. They are clearly on a mission to help their patients have a healthy, comfortable, and confident smile. Crystal was my hygienist today, and she was friendly and focused on doing her best to serve me today. Skyy was also very friendly , and she expertly did a scan of my teeth. Melissa greeted me with her usual big smile. She clearly cares about the patients she serves. Dr Neely was also very friendly and conscientious about diagnosing what was best for me. I’m grateful to have this high quality of care in our Springfield community.

To say that I FEARED dental care would be an understatement. I had tried other dentists before that had claimed to offer “gentle dentistry” and they all fell short. Then, knowing my husband had come here I thought I would give it my best effort. My first call to the office was probably awful for them. I couldn’t even make an appointment for not even being able to talk. They were the kindest ever. They emailed me information and texted me an opportunity to come in. Best decision ever. Now, I knew I needed a full set of dentures and boy that’s a process. BUT, a 100% painless process with this amazing team of professionals supporting and guiding your every need. I will forever be grateful, not only for their stellar professionalism and knowledge but for their kindness and understanding as humans. Always thankful, Tammy Hinds
