About Advanced Dentistry of Center City
Advanced Dentistry of Center City provides dental care on Walnut Street in the Center City West area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.
Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.
Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts. I’ve been a patient for several years and wouldn’t go anywhere else. You can truly tell that patients are Dr. Pallavi Batra's number one priority. She genuinely cares about her work and always makes you feel comfortable and well taken care of. Highly recommend!
I have done my three implants with Dr Batra. She is a wonderful professional. She took care of me. I cannot recommend anyone else but her. She is amazing person as well. Thank you so much.
I got two teeth extracted and it was a breeze. I was very nervous and she made sure I felt no pain at all and walked me through the process while she did it. Would recommend!
I’d leave no stars if possible. After an aggressive upsell that left me feeling uncomfortable, I sought a second opinion which came out thousands of dollars less, I cancelled my next appointment with them giving 24 hours notice. They called and texted me no less than five times and then announced they were charging me for a missed appointment. I’d applied for Care Credit because of their enormous quoted charges then cancelled all further appointments. In retribution they charged 814.00 for services never rendered. I have lodged a formal complaint with CareCredit and will take this as far as needed . The bad feeling I had seems justified.
I went to the Advanced Dentistry of Center City for the first time yesterday after putting off going to the dentist for way too long. I needed to find a place to become established as a new patient, especially because I was overdue for getting exams and cleanings. I ended up being in extreme need of a deep cleaning, plus cavities to be filled, and the misalignment of my teeth were causing much more major issues than I anticipated. I felt very embarrassed for how long I had not gone to the dentist and how much work I needed on my teeth, but everyone in the office was incredibly kind (and patient!), and Dr. Batra assured me that we would be able to have my teeth properly treated before anything could get worse down the line. The full treatment plan that was recommended to me and how much it would cost were all explained to me, and I was asked what work I wanted done. I was not forced into anything, and everyone made me feel comfortable. I know I was a bit of a difficult patient during some of the procedures (like trying to relax and not breathe through my mouth was hard for me, and then I couldn't relax my tongue during the cavity fillings), but all the staff and Dr. Batra worked as swiftly as they could. One thing I noticed was that all the staff worked well as a team and really communicated with each other. The fact that I had so much work that needed to be done and it ALL was able to get done in the one appointment was incredibly impressive. The office is clean, everyone is professional, and I'm truly happy I decided to come here.
