About Advanced Oral Surgery of Tampa

Based on South Dale Mabry Highway in the Palma Ceia West area of Tampa, Florida, Advanced Oral Surgery of Tampa is a dental practice serving the area. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Advanced Oral Surgery of Tampa located in Tampa?
Advanced Oral Surgery of Tampa is on South Dale Mabry Highway in the Palma Ceia West area of Tampa, Florida (33629).
What days is Advanced Oral Surgery of Tampa open?
Advanced Oral Surgery of Tampa is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Advanced Oral Surgery of Tampa offer?
Listed services at Advanced Oral Surgery of Tampa include Wisdom Teeth Removal. The full list is shown on this page.
What age is best to have wisdom teeth taken out?
Late teens to early twenties is often easier, because the roots are less fully formed and bone is more forgiving, so healing tends to be quicker. Removal is still routinely done later when there is a reason for it.
Why do wisdom teeth cause problems?
They arrive last, often into a jaw with no room left, so they become impacted or come through at an angle. Partly erupted wisdom teeth are also very difficult to clean, which is why they are prone to repeated infection and decay.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Edwards. From the very beginning, he took the time to explain everything thoroughly, answered all of my questions, and made sure I understood exactly how the process would play out. His communication was clear, honest, and reassuring, which gave me a great deal of confidence. What really stood out was how accessible he was if I needed anything or had additional questions. It’s rare to find a physician who is not only knowledgeable but also so responsive and genuinely invested in their patients. The entire staff was also fantastic—friendly, professional, and easy to work with throughout the entire experience. I highly recommend Dr. Edwards and his team to anyone looking for exceptional care.

I see a lot of great reviews which makes this a bit more annoying. It took over a week to get ahold of a receptionist to schedule an appointment, thankfully my referring providers office was able to schedule me. On the day of, I showed up early, and waited 15 minutes after my appointment time before I walked out. I understand things happen (ie, short staffed, previous appointment ran over etc), however, no one spoke to me after I checked in 10 minutes prior to my appointment. My review isn’t based on the providers or their level of care as I did not see a provider at this office. The front desk communication could use a lot of work from scheduling (answering the phone), to informing patients if their provider/ assistant is running behind.

I don’t think too many of us look forward to having teeth extracted. With that in mind, this place was as good as it gets! Great service. Great price. Great people. Timely. Professional. Kind. Strongly recommend.

My visit with Dr.Jason Edwards at the advanced Oral Surgeons was great. Him and his staff were amazing and I was put to ease about my procedure immediately and left the office feeling so much better. If you are nervous about going to that office, you will leave relaxed and feeling so much better. Thank you Dr Jason Edwards your a great oral surgeon.

Was just seen this morning at the Tampa office, after having my consultation at the Valrico office. While I’m sure it’s easier to keep things in one office, they were so helpful with allowing me to make the two appointments at different locations so I could schedule them around work. The staff at both locations were exceptional. I there for the removal of three wisdom teeth under sedation ans was in and out of the office in just over an hour. Everyone was super nice and made me feel relaxed even though I have a huge dental phobia and get emotional just walking into a dental office. Highly recommend and will use them for any future oral surgery needs.

Dr. Edwards is fantastic. He is thorough and takes his time with his patients. He explains things well. He has a great “bedside manner” personality. The rest of the clinical staff is also a joy to work with. The office staff are all very helpful and pleasant. They are great with follow up regarding coordination of care.

I had a great experience at Advance Oral Surgery office in South Tampa. Dr. Thomas and the staff were very nice, professional, and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire visit. They took the time to explain everything clearly and treated me with care and respect. I truly appreciate the excellent service and would highly recommend them.

This is the second time that I’ve had oral surgery at this facility. The fact that there was a second time needs that the first time went so well. I cannot applaud this business enough. At one point when I was having issues over a weekend, I texted one of the doctors in an emergency and he responded almost immediately – while at a family funeral. It’s never fun to have to be on the receiving end of oral surgery, but I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
