About Advantage Dental+ | Broadway

Advantage Dental+ | Broadway is a dental practice on Northeast Broadway in the Sullivan's Gulch area of Portland, Oregon. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.

A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

Dentures replace some or all of the natural teeth in a jaw with a removable appliance, custom-fitted to the mouth. A full denture replaces every tooth; a partial fills gaps where some natural teeth remain. Because the jaw bone reshapes over time, dentures typically need adjusting or remaking periodically.

Orthodontic treatment straightens teeth and corrects bite problems using braces, clear aligners, or similar appliances over a period that commonly runs from about a year to several years depending on the case. It is offered to both children, where early evaluation can catch developing issues, and adults at any age.

Crowns and bridges are fixed restorations — a crown covers a single damaged tooth, while a bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the crowns of the teeth on either side. Both commonly last a decade or more with routine care. Services Offered

Orthodontics

Orthodontic care assesses how the teeth and bite are developing and guides each patient toward the treatment that best fits their goals.

Dental Implants

Dental implants replace missing teeth with a post set in the jaw and topped with a custom crown, restoring chewing function and limiting bone loss.

Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom shells bonded to the front of the teeth to address chips, gaps, and discoloration as part of a smile plan.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment removes infected tissue from inside a tooth, relieving pain and saving a tooth that might otherwise need extraction.

Awesome staff at advantage dental on Broadway,. Sad as I was to see Dr. Han leave the practice many years ago, I’ve been delighted with the work of Dr. Polan ever since. Awesome dental assistants and fantastic hygienist Mei will keep me loyal to them. Note: It takes a very long time to get an appointment with them so do not forget your appointment ( send yourself many reminders and book far in advance). ❤️ (Aside- Perhaps if we unionized hygienists in our state we could prevent all the burn out by getting them access to more enticing salary and thus it would be easier to schedule patients in a timely fashion..?)

Prompt, efficient, and super friendly experience from receptionist, to dental assistant, to dentist. I was very happy.

Just got a cavity filled and everyone was super nice and helpful and answered all the questions I had. Only reason why I gave it a 4 star is because the people higher in charge need to update their system with names. They had a section for preferred names and I filled out mine but no one sees it and my legal name keeps getting used. I’m not blaming the people working there at all, they were super nice and used my name when asked. I just wish I could get a reminder without all caps “LEGAL/DEAD NAME” every time. Again loved the people working there just wish I wouldn’t have to keep being reminded of my dead name.

I’m compelled to write this review after reading another’s experience being identical to mine. I have experienced two dentists here. The first had reddish hair and was just awful!! He stood behind talking to me while I was in the chair, WTH. He talked to me like I was an annoyance in his day to have someone there with poor teeth. I tried to explain my situation and he stopped me mid sentence and told me it doesn’t matter I need to do better, like I was a kid! The other dentist however, was absolutely perfect. He understood my situation. How my health and mental health has affected my teeth. Talked to me while facing me too. That other dentist needs to take conversation classes.

It was my son’s first visit to the dentist today and he was super nervous. From the moment we walked in, we were treated so sweetly- he opened up and loved the whole experience! Thank you to reception, and to Regina especially for the incredibly warm and welcoming experience. We will definitely be back!

Eh, not great. Staff are kind there, but can be rather unhelpful. I have been shown how to floss several times by the hygienist despite knowing how to properly, they won't listen when I say it is because of my tooth crowding and shape, and unable to be changed until I get invisalign or braces. That's the smallest issue though. By far the worst thing is their appointments and over the phone availability. They never answer the phone, randomly cancel appointments, and don't call back. Appointments that are imperative for tooth health get pushed back 6-8 months in advance. My wisdom teeth are currently growing in and since my appointment for this month was randomly canceled and I cannot get ahold of them to reschedule, this is now an issue I need to figure out sooner. I am going to switch dental providers as this simply is not a functional location.Edit: I now have pericornitis and still cannot get care until July. I am completely and absolutely disappointed with the service I have received from this dental office and will switch the second I get the chance. Proper communication could have had me in a lot earlier.

Literally the worst dental experience I've had. They are impossible to get a hold of and during my appointment the tech kept whispering to the scheduler about making sure I don't take my anti anxiety meds before a cleaning where I recieve nitrous which is obvious. She wouldn't tell me this directly and I felt like she thought I was stupid. I kept overhearing her whispering so I loudly said "I understand, I will not take my anti anxiety medication if I am receiving nitrous." It was incredibly unprofessional. I changed my provider and tried to call them to transfer my documentation over but I cannot reach a human over the phone. I even left a couple voicemails and they were never returned. I texted them asking to transfer my files to my new provider and they sent me a release of information form which I filled out but weeks later, they still haven't sent anything over. I am so frustrated and will not be coming back. Also they take xrays using so many large pieces and I've since heard that there's an easier way dentists do this with one piece they use for one xray. So be prepared for that if you're getting xrays. Oh yeah, and they said I needed a mouth guard for sleep but refused to get me a professional one and said I had to try a plastic one from Amazon first and when I told them I have tried those and they don't work because they make me gag they didn't provide any other solutions. Also I am convinced I have a gum infection that they neglected to tell me about.
