About Albert Caves, DMD

River Road tracks the Chattahoochee north out of Columbus, and the practice of Dr. Albert Caves sits along it at number 5900, well clear of downtown. It is a general office in the fullest sense of the word: cleanings, fillings, extractions and children's care on one side of the ledger; whitening, veneers, composite bonding and clear aligners on the other; crowns, root canals, dentures, orthodontics, TMJ treatment and full mouth reconstruction in between. Implant work is a defined focus, All-on-Four and implant-secured dentures included, for patients replacing a complete arch rather than a single tooth.

Chairside equipment includes a CEREC milling unit, digital X-rays, an intraoral camera and a soft tissue laser, with oral cancer screening carried out as part of the routine examination. The milling unit is the one patients notice. A ceramic crown is cut from a solid block in the building and fitted at the same appointment, which takes the laboratory out of the loop for suitable teeth. The catch sits in that word suitable. A digital scan can only produce an accurate crown where the camera sees a clean, dry edge the whole way round the prepared tooth, so a fracture running under the gumline, or tissue that keeps bleeding at the margin, still points toward a temporary crown and a second visit.

Implant-secured dentures deserve a clear explanation before you start comparing quotes. An unsupported lower denture sits straight onto the bony ridge and the gum covering it, which is why it wanders mid-meal; two to four implants fitted with attachments clamp that same denture down, transforming chewing while still leaving an appliance you remove at night. A fixed full-arch bridge on four or more implants is a different and considerably costlier treatment that stays in permanently. Both get described loosely as implant dentures, and confusing the two is the most common reason two quotes look wildly apart.

Bone volume drives what is feasible at all. A jaw that has gone years without teeth has usually lost height and width, and grafting comes first, adding months before implants can be placed. Expect imaging and a written, staged plan before any figure is quoted. The clinic week here is four days, Monday to Thursday, eight in the morning until five, and nothing runs from Friday afternoon through the weekend, which is worth knowing before you build a schedule around it. New patients are asked to use a different phone line from existing ones.

Dr. Albert Caves practises family, cosmetic and restorative dentistry at 5900 River Road in north Columbus, with implants as a defined focus, including All-on-Four and implant-secured dentures. A CEREC unit mills ceramic crowns in the building for single-visit fitting where the margin scans cleanly, supported by digital X-rays, an intraoral camera, a soft tissue laser and oral cancer screening at routine examinations. The clinic week is four days, Monday to Thursday, eight until five, with nothing scheduled from Friday onward.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if something goes wrong once the four-day week has ended?
Chairs here are open four days, Monday to Thursday, eight until five, which leaves a three-day gap at the end of every week. Planned treatment fits that comfortably; emergencies do not always. A crown that comes off late on Thursday or a tooth that starts throbbing on Saturday needs a practice carrying after-hours cover. Swelling spreading towards the eye or the throat is a hospital matter rather than something to sit out until Monday.
What is the difference between an implant-secured denture and a fixed full-arch bridge?
An implant-secured denture is still removable. Two to four implants carry attachments that snap the denture down, so it stops moving while you eat, but you take it out to clean it and usually at night. A fixed full-arch bridge sits on four or more implants and is screwed in place permanently, cleaned in the mouth like natural teeth. The fixed option costs substantially more and demands more bone.
What decides whether my crown can be made in a single visit here?
Two things: the tooth and the margin. The prepared tooth is scanned rather than impressed, and the software can only design an accurate crown where the camera reads a dry, clearly defined edge, so a fracture below the gumline or bleeding tissue usually rules out the same-day route. Shade matters as well. Ceramic blocks are one colour throughout, which suits back teeth but makes a solitary front tooth a harder match than layered laboratory work.

If you are looking for a top-tier dental office, look no further than Dr. Cave. My experience was fantastic, largely thanks to Taylor. She was incredibly professional and welcoming, making the entire visit a pleasure. I really appreciated how she took the time to explain every detail to me. I'll definitely be recommending this office to anyone who asks.

1st visit. Staff was courteous and friendly. My hygienist Taylor was great. I prefer nitrous for any visit, but Taylor did an excellent job doing a deep clean on my teeth with just a local. Best experience in years

You have found the right Dentist with Dr Al Caves and his staff!! I was traveling and needed emergency help. I called and ended up actually speaking with Dr Al Caves. He is a very caring and professional. He said he could help me the next day. Upon coming into his office, the friendly staff immediately brought me back for evaluation. Summer, his dental assistant, was so kind and pleasant. She made me feel relaxed. Dr Caves came in and was able to relieve my issues with my implants another dentist had placed. He knew exactly how to help and went the extra distance in securing me a prosthesis under a rush order. Dr Caves even took the time to communicate with my hometown dentist both before he treated me as well as updated my dentist after he fixed me. He is an absolute professional and am so pleased with his services!!!

“I had a fantastic experience at Dr. Caves office! From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff, especially Valerie, was friendly and welcoming. My hygienist, Olivia, was absolutely wonderful; she was gentle and thorough during my cleaning and explained everything clearly. Dr. Caves had a great chair-side manner and took the time to answer all my questions without rushing me. The office was also very clean and well-maintained. I highly recommend this practice for anyone seeking quality dental care!
