About Anthony Bai, DDS (AA Relax Dental Care)
Anthony Bai, DDS (AA Relax Dental Care) provides dental care on North Mesa Street in the Northwest El Paso area of El Paso, Texas. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit. This dentist is grossly incompetent. He did a root canal on me which got infected and he just laughed it off. Went to another dentist and my jaw bone was FULL of puss and even the dental assistant got grossed out remarking OMG. This place is just after your money so don't go here if you care about your dental health. They don't use proper sterilization techniques and they probably don't even have a autoclave to insure the instruments are sterile. He is so arrogant and haughty, treating everyone like they are ignorant. Avoid him at all cost!!
Very bad experience with this dentist. I went in for a root canal and he ended cracking the tooth next to where he was working on root canal. He did not say anything rather I went home and later experienced severe tooth pain that traveled to my brain. I had to call the Emergency room where they referred me to Dr. Holden. Dr. Holden examined me and told me my tooth was cracked he had to extract so I lost my tooth now I need an implant! Good luck in seeing this dentist. I don't recommend him!
I have had a lot of dental work done by Dr Bai., even cosmetic work done. The outcome has been awesome. I can now smile! I have referred people to his practice. He is very good and also his staff is outstanding.
I witnessed my mother get her tooth extracted today, Dr.Bai advised she was coming in for fillings however the teeth couldn’t be filled due to decay. So he advised she had 3 options that would be a root canal, an extraction or antibiotics. He did warn that if she does take antibiotics pain will eventually come back then he stated her insurance didn’t cover root canal. So he pulled one tooth but there were others that needed to be extracted or the root canal. However when leaving it was confirmed that her insurance did cover root canal. So his wife Esther was very rude when returning my moms phone call about the insurance- she was yelling and very irate. I her daughter took over the call and advised that Dr.Bai 1) stated the insurance didn’t cover root canal then he also stated he would have those 3 options for my mother that could be done she advised that’s not what happened mind you she was not in the room, she kept talking over me and I eventually disconnected the call because not only is she was rude it was all dysfunctional. Her husband then called back, and basically try to gaslight me as if I was not in the room when her tooth was extracted. He basically said he wasn’t talking about the tooth he extracted but the remaining teeth that initially needing the fillings is what he was referring to. I advised he didn’t go in depth hence we weren’t on the same page nevertheless her insurance does cover root canal for her her other teeth. He offered her X-ray and I advised we will be taking him up on that offer so we may get a second opinion, he was then aggravated saying “that’s fine” which I know it is because it is not his choice and then had the nerve to say he does not get paid anything at all for the insurance that my mom currently has. This man does not like his job. He bought money some how into the equation when it was never mentioned. My mother is a diabetic and all he kept saying was “we help her, we don’t get paid anything at all” if that’s the case then why accept that insurance? This man is fraudulent. I don’t recommend going to him and if you do please double check what insurance covers and what it does not; also don’t even try to speak cordial with Esther. She is very unprofessional always arguing with someone.
I went in to see Dr. Bai a couple years ago for a routine dental cleaning fully covered by my insurance. Dr. Bai looked at me and said I had severe gingivitis and that I would need a more expensive cleaning that was not covered. I was surprised and emphasized I did not want that. He refused to do anything. I requested my teeth x-rays (which other dentists have before e-mailed to me), and he refused and argued with me for 30 minutes until he begrudgingly handed them over. I've never had a cavity, and future dentists have actually commented on my good dental hygiene. You've been warned! This man is a crook.
