About Aspen Dental - Akron, OH - Green
Walk-in availability shapes who ends up in this waiting room. A large team — Dr. James Maurer owns the office, with associates including Dr. Thomas Kaufholz, Dr. Ronen Mavashev, Dr. Ben Jacoby, Dr. Urjasvi Patel and oral surgeon Dr. Min Hee Sur — means same-day appointments can often be absorbed when someone turns up with a broken tooth or a swollen jaw. Alongside that urgent traffic sit the planned cases: dentures, implant-retained dentures, extractions, crowns and bridges, root canals, fillings, cleanings and Motto clear aligners. Having a surgeon on staff matters practically, because extractions and implant placement stay in the building rather than becoming a referral.
Implant-retained dentures are worth explaining properly, since the name confuses people. Retention on an ordinary lower denture comes from suction and the contour of the ridge alone, with no anchorage of any kind, which is exactly why dinner turns into a fight for so many wearers. The implant version starts with two or more titanium posts placed in the jaw and left to fuse with bone for several months. Small attachments are then fitted to the tops of those posts, and matching housings are set into the underside of the denture. The appliance snaps down onto them and stays snapped until you take it out to clean it. It is still removable — this is not a fixed bridge — but the difference in chewing confidence is substantial. Attachment inserts wear out and are replaced periodically, and how many implants you need depends on bone volume, which imaging establishes.
The office is at 2858 South Arlington Road, at Akron's southern boundary near Green and Springfield Township, with Route 224 and the airport interchange close by. Thursday runs until seven in the evening, which is the slot to aim for if you cannot take time off; Friday closes at one.
One thing to check first: the office accepts most major dental insurance but does not take Medicaid. Payment plans through partner lenders are the alternative for larger treatment, and it is fair to ask for an itemised written estimate before agreeing to a multi-stage plan, since denture and implant quotes vary by material and number of stages.
A multi-dentist office on South Arlington Road at Akron's southern edge, owned by Dr. James Maurer and staffed by several associates plus an oral surgeon, which keeps extractions and implant placement in-house. Services cover dentures, implant-retained dentures, crowns, bridges, fillings, cleanings, root canals, wisdom teeth and Motto clear aligners, with same-day and walk-in appointments often accommodated. Thursday runs until seven in the evening. Most major dental insurance is accepted, but Medicaid is not.

First they call the day before an appointment to reschedule saying they overbooked. Then on the rescheduled appointment that was supposed to be a new patient/hygienist/checkup visit. They didn't even have a hygienist there... They didn't put the lead vest on my daughter when they did Xrays, also when the "Dentist" came back to see her after the Xrays told her she needed a hygienist visit... No crap... That's what the appointment was supposed to be. Then he started to discuss with a 16yr old without a parent present the cost and payment options to take care of an issue she was having.... Why he would think it's ever OK to do that to a 16yr old and not include the parent that was in the lobby is beyond me. Then after he's done they send her out to get me and we then get told to wait in this other sitting area. For the "Finance" lady to come out and get us and discuss payments and a plan of work that needs done.... I knew this place was a chain place and they only are out to make as much money as they can. Sadly this is where my Ex booked our child. Now that I'm in control I have scheduled her at an actual dentist office that's not just out to make as much money as they can and will actually have the proper staff on hand for the visit that's schedule.
First time visitor, I didn’t feel very welcome when I walked in, then I was taken back for an x-ray. The initial nurse never looked in my mouth. I explained that I wasn’t insured and I was just there for an extraction. Then I was taken to the engine, which is the chair you sit in. I sat there for over a half hour. Then a woman comes in and asked me about payment. I told her I was uninsured and I was paying cash. They kept repeating the cost like I was homeless and I didn’t have the money to pay. It was only two hundred dollars, very cheap to get rid of the pain i was in. That’s how I felt like a second class citizen or something, so then the dentist comes in doesn’t even look in my mouth explains that he’s gonna start numbing. He starts to do so. I stop him because he’s numbing in the wrong area. I explained to him the tooth I need extracted is at the bottom not the top. So I was jabbed many times, thank God I’m not afraid of needles Then he decided look inside my mouth.I really felt that I didn’t get the same care or attention to detail because I was uninsured. I did get the correct extraction done finally. Then they never called in my prescription I had to call back and remind them. I’m leaving this review not because I’m bitter just so you guys can do better, don’t treat uninsured people any different than insured people. # almost got the wrong tooth extracted.
Quick to get me in for an appointment. Clean office, waiting room time was minimal. Explanation of procedure was understandable. Tooth extraction was a short procedure. Dr.Jacoby & staffwas very pleasant & informative. Will return and refer.
I am the type of person that avoids the dentist at all costs! I will put off go into the dentist for years if it all possible. However, the staff and the doctor and everybody at Aspen dental on Arlington Ridge in Akron is amazing!! They are all super friendly they make sure that you’re comfortable, and they make sure that you understand what’s going on. 10 out of 10 would recommend Aspen.
Aspen Dental has been a lifesaver so far! I’m so glad that I found them and chose them to do my work on my teeth. There’s a lot needing done and they made the schedule processing very easy and was also able to get financing when I didn’t think that I would be able to. Everyone that has worked on me so far is so sweet and knowledgeable and careful and I feel like I’m in good hands. I am very petrified of dental work as I’ve had really horrible experiences before so I went a long time without going and ran into some issues but they’re fixing me all up and I couldn’t be more gratefull! I would recommend this place to anybody! They took me in right away and started my treatment plan immediately. very thorough and very knowledgeable and very careful and detailed in their work, and explained every step of the way. Probably going to cry happy tears when I get my partial because Ive missing a front tooth for a long time (amongst others)and I didn’t think I could afford to fix them. But Aspen Dental‘s gonna make me smile again! Thank you so much! 😁
I have been going to Aspen Dental for almost a year. A lot of those visits I have had the pleasure of having Amari assist me. She is so friendly, caring, and sweet. she answers all my questions and she makes sure I am satisfied before I leave. She makes the experience so much better Thank you Amari for your caring and kindness!
2nd time going to Aspen dental 1st time at this location. The Arlington road location is top notch! From check in everyone is welcoming, i hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years. I was not shamed but educated about the care and health of my teeth, gums and bone loss. After my x-rays and oral exam they showed me the care plan I needed. I went in for tooth pain, came out with antibiotics and pain killers and an appointment was made two weeks later for my root canal. The dentist was very thorough the root canal took an hour. Once the root canal was completed they did another round of x-rays to make sure the inflammation was gone it wasn't i was sent another round of antibiotics and pain killers. I've had root canals before but no x-rays after. I definitely knew my tooth care was on point. Had my 1st round of cleaning they are great at the job. My mouth hasn't felt this clean and plaque free in awhile. Highly recommend this location in keeping all your natural teeth healthy and clean.
