About Audubon Dental & Implant Center

Audubon Dental & Implant Center is a dental practice on South Broadway in Lexington, offering general dentistry alongside more specific care most patients eventually need. The office sits in the Audubon Park area just south of downtown, convenient for patients across the central and south side of the city. Beyond routine cleanings and checkups, many patients eventually need a tooth replaced, gum disease addressed before it progresses, or oral surgery handled without a separate referral, which is why having that depth of care at one practice matters.

Audubon Dental & Implant Center pairs general dentistry with dental implants, bone grafting, extractions, root canal treatment, and dentures, alongside cosmetic options like veneers, bonding, and full smile makeovers. Laser-assisted periodontal therapy for gum disease is the more distinctive piece of what this practice offers, giving patients with gum disease a less invasive option than traditional surgical treatment, handled by the same practice managing their implants and general care. Invisalign is available for adults wanting straighter teeth, and oral surgery for more involved extractions and trauma cases is done in-house rather than referred to a separate surgeon.

If you've been told your gums are receding or infected and pictured only scalpel-based surgery as the fix, having a laser-based option available changes what that treatment actually looks like.

Cost for periodontal therapy, implants, and bone grafting depends heavily on how much treatment is needed and how advanced the gum disease or bone loss is, so a written estimate before anything beyond an initial exam is worth requesting. Dental insurance often covers a portion of periodontal treatment and less of implant and cosmetic work, so it's worth confirming with the front desk what your specific plan allows before starting. For patients in the Audubon Park area and along South Broadway, having implant, periodontal, and general dentistry handled at one practice close to downtown cuts down on referrals to separate specialists across the city.

What is the difference between a general dentist and a specialist?
A general dentist provides comprehensive care across all the common needs and refers out for anything requiring focused training — implants, complex gum disease, orthodontics, and similar. A specialist has completed extra years of training in one specific area.
Do dental implants hurt?
Placement is done under local anaesthetic, and most people compare the discomfort afterward to an extraction rather than something worse. Soreness for a few days is normal and usually manageable with standard pain relief.

From the moment I walked in, I had an outstanding experience at this dental office. The entire team was warm, welcoming, and genuinely cared about making me feel comfortable. The front desk staff made scheduling and check-in effortless, and I was seen right on time. The dentist was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to explain every step of my treatment, answering all of my questions without making me feel rushed. The hygienist was gentle, thorough, and made what is usually an anxious experience surprisingly relaxing. The office itself is spotless, modern, and equipped with the latest technology, which made my visit efficient and stress-free. It's clear that everyone here takes pride in providing exceptional care and treating patients like family. If you're looking for a dental office that combines professionalism, compassion, and top-quality care, I can't recommend this practice highly enough. This was easily the best dental experience I've ever had, and I actually look forward to my next visit. Five stars all the way!

I've been going to Audubon for the last 7-8 years and had loved it. Yesterday was my last appointment with them. I was treated as if I was a child going to my first dental appointment. I was told that I'd be moved from deep cleanings every 3 months to every 6 months, this put up immediate red flags because I require the deep cleanings every 3 months. Then I was told that they would not be giving me the Prevident toothpaste anymore because they want to "wait and see". I already did that, it looks like cavities every 3 months without it. There were many other little things that added to the list of red flags, just simply too many to name here. When I got home to do some research I discovered that they were recently bought out by Heartland Dental LLC, it's majority owned by KKR a PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM. If you value your teeth and your money, don't come here.

Loved how fast they were able to get me in during an emergency. The labor doodle calmed me as soon as I came in contact with him. What a lovely addition to their services.

I went in expecting a routine cleaning and was instead told I needed a deep cleaning, despite being told I had no plaque, tartar, cavities, or clear signs of gum disease. When I asked for clarification, I did not feel the recommendation was clearly justified or clearly explained with measurements or imaging. There was significant pressure to move forward with an $800 deep cleaning, along with additional add-ons like fluoride and an oral cancer screening. Because I declined, no general cleaning was performed at all, which was disappointing. Additionally, the office would not transfer my iTero 3D scans to my orthodontist, which created unnecessary inconvenience and additional cost. Overall, the experience felt more focused on upselling than patient care. I would recommend asking detailed questions and getting a second opinion before agreeing to treatment.

I was in panic mode the entire time, only because it’s what I do when I have to see a dentist. The ladies who helped me through my appointment were amazing. They were so kind, knowledgeable, and tried very hard to help me with my panic and overwhelmed emotions. I know I was a lot, and I greatly appreciate how sensitive they were to my anxiety, and the beautiful dog was so sweet! 5 stars would be given if the price was in my budget for what I need.

HORRIBLE is the only way I can describe the experience I had at Audubon Dental. This establishment should honestly have its dental license stripped. I made an appointment for them to check on a chipped tooth, and not only did they fail to tell me what was wrong or what they could do to fix it, they were also unbelievably rude the entire time. The moment I walked into the office, I was shocked at how terrible the place looked. I don’t know who is responsible for maintaining that office, but they seriously need to do better. No one greeted me when I walked in. I had to walk up to the front desk and ask multiple times for someone to check me in, and the entire time it felt like they didn’t want me there at all. I don’t understand how a place that is supposed to help people feel better about their teeth manages to make them feel worse instead. I was eventually taken back by one of the rudest women I’ve ever encountered. She walked me to the chair and didn’t say a single word to me the entire time. Once I sat down, she asked why I was there. I explained that I had a chipped tooth that needed fixing. Instead of actually looking into the issue, she told me there was no chipped tooth and claimed I was “just overeating,” which seriously raised my chortisol. The dentist eventually walked over and had the same dismissive attitude. No real examination, no explanation, and absolutely no solution to the problem I came in for. I left with the exact same issue I walked in with, except now I also had to deal with their horrible attitude and complete lack of professionalism. How do they expect someone to walk around confidently, let alone pull good-looking women, with a chipped tooth? This is lowering my mogging level and it’s honestly infuriating. Avoid this place at all costs. NEVER go to this dentist. You’ve been warned.
