When Dr. Wainwright retired I was very concerned about finding a new dentist that would be good. Turns out I didn’t have to go far. Dr. D is a doctor beyond my (high) expectations! He finished up my Invisalign for Dr. Wainwright beautifully and in the process, discovered a few things in much need of attention. He used the camera in my mouth and showed me on the tv screen an intense fracture on a back tooth that I knew nothing about. He also revealed on the screen some problems with very old fillings that had deteriorated over the years. If he had not pointed them out, I likely would not have known about these until they were an emergency situation. It felt good to know Dr. D is looking out for those “red flags” that can become super expensive problems down the road if left unattended. Dr. D is thorough to say the least. I have never once felt rushed or ignored. Before doing anything, he goes over every single detail with you and explains the “why” behind the work. His education being current and fresh, I love that he is abreast of the most up-to-date advances in dental care. Dr. D is also super-attentive to your needs. While he is working in your mouth, he regularly asks you if you are feeling ok and wants to adjust for anything you need to make you more comfortable. He is a great communicator. Not only does he check with me that I understand what he is doing and how I feel, he also *personally stays in touch after I leave! On 6 different teeth, I’ve had a total of 3 fillings and 3 crowns. He, himself reached out to check on me after every appt, including promptly texting back with me about questions I had after-hours AND over the weekend! He is always warm and kind, yet very informative as well. You feel like a friend of his, not “just a client”. As they have always been, the staff is impeccable and his super star dental assistant Joan has a true “momma’s heart” if I ever saw one. She is one of the most comforting people I have ever met.

A few years ago the dentist talked me into getting a mouth guard. I told him my only objection was I didn’t want to spend $500+ to only have my dog chew it up. He said if that happened he would make me a new one at not cost. While moving I placed my guard on the counter and within a few second my dog chewed it up. I felt OK because the dentist said he would replace it if that happened and it happened in less than a month. He did not honor his word and they tried to charge me. I of course did not pay it, so I was out $500+. If the dentist says he cares about people’s health over profit and will replace your mouth guard, tell him to put it in writing. It is odd that the bad reviews appear to disappear without true resolution.

I had a really great experience here. I recently got a filling done, and it was surprisingly quick and completely painless - even though I’m usually pretty nervous about needles. That alone made a big difference for me. On top of that, my dad had to come in for an emergency tooth extraction with Dr. Sejal, and she was amazing. It was heavily infected, but they were able to fit him in last minute, which was incredibly accommodating. She handled everything so smoothly, and he felt so much better right after. Overall, the care and attention we both received made us feel really comfortable and well taken care of. I’d definitely recommend this place. I also had a chipped tooth recently, and they were able to see me very quickly and take care of it just as smoothly- another great experience all around.

Dr. D and Dr. Sage are fantastic! They really take the time to explain preventative care and treatment options in a way that’s easy to understand, and I never felt rushed during my visits. I’ve had cleanings and fillings done, and everything has been smooth and comfortable. Highly recommend their care and attention to detail!

I had a really disappointing experience at this dental office after the new husband-and-wife team took over. The atmosphere and level of care have noticeably changed, and not in a good way. I felt like treatment recommendations were being made more for financial gain than for my actual dental needs. It came across as pushy and, honestly, a bit shady.

Dr D and Dr Sage have been great with the transition from Dr Wainwright. They have been great with the people skills side, and the care/treatment has been excellent. I will always recommend Austin Dental Care!
