About AZ Max Surgeons Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Dental Implants & Wisdom Teeth

AZ Max Surgeons Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Dental Implants & Wisdom Teeth operates on East Brown Road in Mesa, Arizona. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.

Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Oral surgery covers procedures beyond routine treatment — surgical extractions including impacted wisdom teeth, implant placement, and bone grafting among the more common ones. The distinguishing feature is generally that tissue is opened and closed as part of the procedure, rather than treated at the surface.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery covers surgical conditions of the face, jaw, and mouth, from wisdom teeth and jaw realignment through to facial trauma and reconstruction, carried out by surgeons trained in both dentistry and surgery.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent. How long do dental implants last?
The implant itself is designed to be permanent and frequently lasts decades. The crown attached to it is the part more likely to need replacing over time, and implants can still be lost to gum infection if cleaning is neglected.
Do wisdom teeth always need to be removed?
No. Wisdom teeth that come through cleanly, in a good position, and can be kept clean are often left alone. Removal is generally advised when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front.
How long is recovery after wisdom tooth removal?
Most of the swelling and discomfort settles within about a week, with the first two or three days the most noticeable. Surgical removal of an impacted tooth generally takes longer to recover from than a simple extraction.

A fantastic experience from the front office staff upon walking thru the front door to leaving the office! I had a tooth extracted by Dr. Allen...injections were painless and was completely comfortable thru the entire procedure! Back office staff was awesome and so welcoming! Would highly recommend the practice to everyone!

The staff were all very nice. I loved the gal checking me out. She said I would get a discount if I paid with green cash on my extraction visit. I’m going to do that for sure! Dr Trevor was kind and helpful. My extraction was quick and painless. My recovery is so far excellent the instructions were easy to understand and day two is better than I expected. Thank you

Dr. Lemieux and his staff were both personable and professional throughout the entire experience. From the moment I entered the surgery room, everything and everyone was well prepared, organized, and efficient. Choosing Dr. Lemieux and his team for my oral surgery instead of having it done at my dentist’s office was definitely the right decision. Their expertise, preparation, and ability to anticipate and handle anything that could arise gave me a great sense of confidence and comfort. The aftercare has also been outstanding, with thoughtful follow-up calls and clear post-surgery instructions. I truly appreciate the excellent care I received from Dr. Lemieux and his entire staff. While I wasn’t treated, my husband was seen on an emergency basis for a tooth that had been hurting him for multiple days. We called around to many offices from last Thursday to today (Monday) and this was the only office that was willing to fit him in. Not only did they do the consultation, but they also were able to squeeze him in while we waited for an opening to do the extraction. The entire team from the front office, the assistants and Dr Austin himself made the appointment pleasurable. My husband came out of surgery with a smile on his face saying he felt amazing and he now wants them to take out his remaining wisdom teeth. Thank you so much to all of you for helping him with his emergency and being so kind and diligent. I previously worked in a dental office for 10 years and can truly say this is an office we would gladly refer all of our patients to that needed any extensive maxillofacial surgeries!

Couldn’t be happier with our experience here! All four of our children have had their wisdom teeth removed with this practice and it’s been an excellent experience with each one. Dr Lemieux was very personable and took the time to explain everything with us. Would highly recommend!
