About Baker Roger DDS

Baker Roger DDS provides dental care on North Emporia Avenue in Wichita, Kansas. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. I have gone to Dr. Baker for TMJ for 20 years! When I needed major dental work he was able to do it all which made it easy for me to make the appointments rather than going one place to have the teeth pulled and another to have the partial made and the permanent installed. He made the time to accommodate my needs. It was a good experience!

I had an agreement with this office prior to starting treatment in June 2025 regarding how insurance would be handled before I selected them as my provider. After allowing multiple correction attempts, by January 2026 my bite had shifted to the point that I was unable to chew properly, and the device ultimately became unusable. The office manager was unprofessional and did not return calls from Sharecare despite multiple attempts to resolve the situation on my behalf. I eventually had to file in small claims court, after which a claim was finally processed the day before the first court date. After multiple continuances, the matter was ultimately settled out of court nearly a year later. Dr. Baker cut me a check for a little over $1600. Although the case settled, more than $1,100 was still applied toward my lifetime insurance maximum, which continues to affect my future care coverage. Overall, I was left disappointed with both the outcome and how the situation was handled, and based on my experience, I would not recommend this office.

I've been going to Dr. Baker for over 25 years. They are the best! Friendly staff, helpful, and they go the extra mile. Highly recommend!

I have the most beautiful smile. I can’t believe it’s on my face. #blessed My primary dentist said that doctors who specialize in both ortho and TMJ disorders are few — Dr. Baker is known as the most reputable in the area, and I can personally attest to that. Thank you so much, Dr. Baker!

I never leave negative reviews but I am fully convinced this place is a scam. I would highly suggest looking elsewhere for treatment. Dr. Baker will spend about an hour explaining the anatomy and physiology of TMJ but doesn’t really provide a lot of information or background on the device itself, which looking back I should have caught. I was told they have a “100% success rate” which is completely unrealistic and shouldn’t be said to patients. I also overheard him telling new patients this while I was waiting to be seen so I believe it to be rehearsed. The device they offer for TMJ is incredibly expensive and the way it is designed does not keep issues at bay, if anything it keeps you from grinding but that’s about it. I went in so many times trying to have them fix it because it felt too tight and was GIVING me headaches. I haven’t worn the device in months and have way less headaches now which makes zero sense. Whenever I communicated all of this to them, the front desk passed my phone call off to one of the hygienists which was odd and Dr. Baker dismissed my husband and I’s concerns in person. We are so disappointed with the quality of care in this office. They ignored my concerns and refused any type of refund. The worst part about this office is that they bribe people with a fancy dinner in order to have them leave a good review which is why you see so many “positive” reviews here. There’s a flyer posted when you check out and the receptionist will be sure to remind you.

My wife had issues with a jaw lock on Monday. Mary gave her instructions on the phone to ease the problem until they could get her in to the office this morning. Susan and Dr. Baker got her fixed right up, so all is well

Dr Roger Baker and his staff, Stephanie, Mary and Susan are the best! I was having a lot of pain after an anesthetist performed a jaw thrust while I was having a colonoscopy. Dr Baker fixed up an appliance for me to wear that has aligned my jaw and relieved me of my pain.

Dr Baker has been such a blessing. I went to him when I was in middle school for Tmj treatment. He made me an appliance and also braces. I recently had him make me a new appliance because no one compares to the retainer/mouthpiece that he creates, and I need a backup for whenever he retires. Very thankful for Dr. Baker and Stephanie. Stephanie is always very kind and helpful.
