Dr. Stephen N. Bakios is a general dentistry practice on Pawtucket Avenue in East Providence, Rhode Island. The practice provides everyday dental care for adults and families, and is a steady, familiar part of the local dental community.
As a general dental practice, the office focuses on the routine treatment that keeps teeth and gums healthy over the long term. General dentistry typically includes comprehensive examinations, professional cleanings, tooth-colored fillings, and monitoring for tooth decay and gum disease, along with guidance on day-to-day oral hygiene.
For teeth that are damaged or causing problems, the practice provides restorative treatment, and it also handles extractions, including the removal of wisdom teeth, when a tooth cannot be saved.
Keeping a regular checkup schedule is the most dependable way to catch small problems early, before they need more involved treatment. A consistent six-month visit pattern lets the dentist track changes over time and recommend care when it is genuinely needed, and professional cleanings remove the hardened tartar that everyday brushing cannot reach.
As a single-dentist practice, the office offers continuity of care, with patients seeing the same dentist across their visits.
A new-patient visit generally begins with a thorough examination and cleaning, with any findings and recommended treatment explained clearly before care begins.
The Pawtucket Avenue location is convenient for East Providence and the surrounding communities.

I really wanted to take the time to say that this man is the best at. He did a good job and making me feel. going back a few years ago I had a cracked back tooth that caused me extreme pain. I called him for an emergency visit and he got me in. It was around lunchtime. I remember sitting in his chair. I seen him walk by the door a few times talking with the hygienist, whispering and laughing about their day or laughing at. From then he came in and introduced himself I then proceeded to have x-rays. I then sat in the chair and he had gotten his probe and continued to touch each tooth gently then he got to my crack tooth and what seemed to be a little bit more pressure than needed stuck the probe into the crack and said this one and of course, I said he then proceeded to pull it, which was extraordinarily painful. Needless to say you can fill in the blanks, this man is a terrible person whether it was intentional or not. I am still pissed off to the day because I feel it was I would not visit this man especially for an emergency during lunchtime. I feel I was being mocked. I always swore if I saw him on the street that I would tell him about my wonderful time and what kind of person I thought he was. So I don’t know if anybody else has had this experience and I apologize if I’m the only one and I am mistaken, but if it has happened to you, just know you’re not the only one.
I had my wisdom teeth taken out a week ago and it went better than I expected. I had the procedure done a little older than most and was concerned about the recovery but after my follow-up today everything looks good so far. Dr. Bakios is very knowledgeable and experienced which gave me the confidence to have the procedure done. His team is also fantastic and I’m appreciative of Elaine checking on me the evening of the procedure. I’m a coward and hope to never have to undergo an experience like this again but I give this office 10/10.
NEVER GO HERE!!!.....went to get a tooth pulled and was on time. I sat around waiting until 5 when my appointment was 2:30. He forgot I was there after giving me two Anesthesia shots. He was very rough. Heavy handed when giving the shot! I've had several work done on my mouth and he is the worse with no concern. He forgot I was sitting around for another hour and gave me 3 more anesthesia shots. He took 2 patients ahead of me and I had to complain for them to see me after waiting in the back room after the anesthesia shots and sitting around for an hour. When done.. I finally left it was 6:00!!!!!.... I was in extreme pain. My original dentist referred me. I will definitely give them feedback. They should not refer ANYONE there! I will never go there again. Very unprofessional and a totally lack and disregard for his patience. Your just a number to him. PLEASE BE AWARE !!!...
I was very nervous to get my wisdom teeth out. The doctor was extremely helpful and gave me all the options to calm my nerves during the consultation. I opted for the general anesthia route. It was so easy! The IV insertion was painless and before I knew it, I was done. I would recommend this practice to anyone, especially those nervous about dental procedures. Dr. Bakios and his entire staff are great!
Enjoyed the staff, experience and expertise of Dem S. Baikios. Explanation of steps and procedures were delivered in a professional and considerate manner. I had tooth #4 replaced with a dental prosthetic crown. I highly recommend this practice for oral surgery. Will use this office in the future again if needed.
