About Beach Heights Dentistry
Beach Heights Dentistry is a dental practice on Redondo Avenue in the Bluff Heights area of Long Beach, California. Dentures replace some or all of the natural teeth in a jaw with a removable appliance, custom-fitted to the mouth. A full denture replaces every tooth; a partial fills gaps where some natural teeth remain. Because the jaw bone reshapes over time, dentures typically need adjusting or remaking periodically.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.
Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.
Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. If you need a nightguard to guard against damaging your teeth from grinding them while you sleep, Dr. Yen is absolutely without a doubt the best dentist to make it!
Have been going there for over 30 yrs! They are awesome!
Beach heights dentistry service is excellent. Dr Yen takes personal care about his patients.
5/5/26 Had appointment with Sandy my hygienist. As always I was given excellent care by her. No complaints, no pain, no numbing gel for me! I only schedule with Sandy as she is professional, knowledgeable and personable. Always 5 stars for her and this dental office! 7/18/24 Had to have Dr. Yen put a crown back in place which had been placed by another dentist over 20 years ago. Dr. Yen was as always, reassuring, explained what he would be doing and most of all there was NO PAIN. It is a major deal for me to go to the dentist but I have had no issues with Dr. Yen and his dental treatments. I give each visit 5 stars, excellent care! 3/11/24 Had regular cleaning with Sandy and once again it was a good experience. The computers were down so it was a bit chaotic but the office was accommodating as much as possible. Office personnel even called me later to address some questions. Under the circumstances it was fine and Sandy is my go to hygienist. 8/15/22 - another great appointment with Sandy. She is professional yet friendly. I am traumatized by any trip to the dentist but Sandy is very calming and explains procedures. I couldn't ask for a better hygienist. If I am able, I will only schedule with Sandy. Today 8/17/20 I had an appointment with Sandy. I will rate her a 10. With this virus stuff she made me feel very safe. The measures they have taken are outstanding. The dental work I receive whether routine cleaning or crowns is outstanding. I will continue to gladly be a patient at Beach Heights.
Every appointment at Dr. Yen's office is always a welcoming experience handled with excellent care, professionalism and smiles.
If you’re looking to get your teeth fixed and aren’t sure, when you’re done with Dr Yen, you will be so happy you did. It’s literally life changing. I’m so glad we came to see Dr Yen. My teeth were so bad for so long it was just sad. I wasn’t sure what to do or how to fix my teeth problems but with the help of my wife and Beach Heights Dentistry, it has made life so much better and brighter (that’s with the new smile too!). Yes, it is pricey but this is your teeth that is part of your everyday life in so many ways. Your teeth affect your smile, how you look, what you eat so we decided to go and do it all. Could’ve taken a few trips, bought some cool adult/dad things or even used it for a car, but what’s the use if your teeth are so bad and always trying to hide your smile. I just got my finals this week and let me tell you, I couldn’t be happier. Life changing! Dr. Yen is a true artist, great at what he does, such a perfectionist. All his staff have been so kind and so helpful not 1 bad or negative thing to say. I’m a nurse so I know what it’s like to take care of people and they all do it so well. If you want to fix your smile, come and see Dr Yen and see for yoursel!
Ive been to two dentists in long beach before & fed up from being unsatisfied by either their technique or aggressive overselling the procedures I looked up and found Beach heights dentistry & ThankGod I did. Dr Yen was absolutely amazing. 1.5 hour detailed consult - going over the entire mouth / explaining details & guiding. I felt like finally being in good hands - will definitely recommend!
Dr. Yen is THE consummate expert in the field of prosthodontics. He possesses a special understanding of the dynamics of a smile and the preservation of a healthy mouth. Dr. Yen carefully evaluated the complex dental issues I was experiencing and immediately created a comprehensive plan to address and remedy them. His experience and expertise, attention to detail and extensive knowledge and use of state-of-the-art techniques resulted in the complete restoration of my dental health and function. Dr. Yen’s empathy, compassion and positivity make him a pleasure to work with. He is truly an exceptional prosthodontist.
