About Berkeley Prosthodontics and General Dentistry
Berkeley Prosthodontics and General Dentistry is a dental practice on Durant Avenue in the Southside area of Berkeley, California. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.
A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.
Professional teeth whitening uses a peroxide-based gel, applied under supervision at a strength stronger than anything sold over the counter, to lift years of staining from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. It works on natural enamel only — existing crowns, veneers, and fillings keep whatever shade they were made in.
Dentists commonly treat mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea with a custom oral appliance that repositions the jaw to keep the airway open overnight, often used by patients who cannot tolerate a CPAP machine. A sleep study is generally the starting point for diagnosis.
Prosthetic dentistry is the branch concerned with replacing missing teeth and restoring damaged ones — dentures, bridges, crowns, and implant-supported restorations all sit within this area, chosen based on how much natural tooth and bone remain.
At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts. I can say that this is one of the best dental offices I’ve ever been to. I had been having trouble finding one—especially for dental cleanings. Thank you, thank you so much.
Had a great experience with Dr. Au. She was incredibly professional and kind and explained things very well.
I went to see Dr Wang for consultation, during the visit, she thoroughly examined every aspect of my teeth, she patiently listened, answered and explained, I felt not being rushed, her assistant Sheila was kind and gentle when handling my mouth, Angie from front desk was very friendly, overall it was a good experience, thank you Dr Wang and the team.
Excellent care and patience with me and my teeth!
Berkeley Prosthodontic Team provides attentive, gentle care and professional approach to each patient's needs. I am thoroughly satisfied with the care provided and would recommend them to anyone looking for a dental team. :)
Dr Au and Dr Wang are outstanding. They are both gentle and very knowledgeable. Their dental work is perfection. I've had more than my share of dental problems so I am somewhat of an expert at evaluating dental practices from a patient perspective. You can't go wrong at Berkeley Prosthodontics.
Dr. Au and her staff were professional and personable and friendly. Dr. Au fit me in to repair my chipped front tooth. She is an artist. No one can even tell which tooth had been chipped. Thank you Dr Au and her awesome staff. I highly recommend them.
Fantastic quality of care. Dr Amy Au, her assistant Sheila Van Hook and the office receptionist Angie (I believe her last name is Venares?) and the other people working there have been superb regarding routine care and just provided me with a pretty much perfect job regarding a tooth crown in a difficult spot to fit. I am very lucky that when my dentist retired he transferred me to this office (provided i was OK with it, of course). Would gladly recommend this medical service.
Dr. Au saved my smile! I chipped my front tooth and she got me an appointment within the week! During the visit, I could tell how much she cares for her patients and the quality of her care/work. I was worried about the price because of her extra years of education and training, but it was very reasonable/good! My tooth looks better than it did before the chip, and still fits into my Invisalign! Her staff also very great! I will be coming back for all my future dental and prosthodontics needs. Thank you, Dr. Au!
