Dark and dreary place ..they need to smile and not look so Hood and like they are all having a bad day..never will go there again

I give Betances Health Center 5 stars for their excellent care and priority in emergencies. Speaking from my own experience, they have helped me tremendously. I highly recommend this clinic for your health insurance.

I had the unfortunate experience of being referred to psychiatrist Fahad Sultan by my PCP, and it was the most bizarre encounter I’ve ever had. I came in seeking treatment for ADHD and depression. From the jump he was rude in tone and manner, seemingly upset with my answers to his questions. I quickly found myself thinking “why is this guy so mad at me?”. Anytime I tried to repeat his words back to him, in an effort to understand what he saying, he would immediately get defensive and backtrack. I expressed that I wanted to continue treatment for my ADHD and he treated me like a drug addicted trying to score. Even when I expressed to him that I understood the reasons why federally funded clinics had stricter rules about controlled substances, and that I was not upset about that, he just kept talking over me and explaining the same regulations over and over. When I voiced that I was uncomfortable and didn’t want to continue treatment with him, he only became meaner and combative. I wish I had read the other reviews about him before visiting, because this was truly a disturbing way to be treated. I feel bad for anyone else seeking mental health treatment who finds themselves in his office. The receptionist and nurse were very nice though.

I receive good care at Betances, which is hard to find as someone with Medicaid, but their policy on having no grace period for late arrival is very disappointing, and is making me consider finding a new clinic. New Yorkers who rely on public transportation are at the whim of the trains. I have to travel over an hour to get to the clinic, and today I left over a half an hour early and still arrived two minutes late because of severe delays in the trains. I called ahead out of courtesy to let them know I was coming and was told my appointment would be given away and that I would have to wait until July to receive another appointment. It shows a total lack of understanding for their patients and because of this policy, I'm unable to receive care that I desperately need today and am left weighing my options of how I'm going to get the care I've already waited months for.

Unfortunately the service at Betances has gone downhill. It’s unfortunate for the community. When patient care and needs are ignored at the door it affects the quality of care a patient receives. They need reliable administrative staff who handles front desk messages, scheduling and insurance matters with accuracy. When they do answer phones, which is a nightmare to have to keep calling, it’s immediately “hold on” then placed on a hold for sometime or no one returns messages. Administration Staff at Betances has made it difficult to receive quality care in a low income neighborhood. It’s unfortunate

The case manager Jorge Martínez is an excellent person, he is empathetic, he is diligent, he listens to every concern or need we have. It reassures me to have people around me like that in my process. Another great human being is Dr. Juan Beily, his attention is excellent, he is kind and he is always attentive to every detail in my treatment. The consultations are very clear and he follows up on every change that presents itself or requires my treatment.

They have a very friendly staff, very knowledgeable and they make you feel that you are a part of your care and that is important
