About Bird Pediatric Dentistry

Bird Pediatric Dentistry operates on Riverstone Way in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.

A sealant is a thin protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, where the deep grooves collect plaque and food that brushing struggles to reach. It is most often applied to children's permanent molars shortly after they come through, though adults can benefit too.

A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been cleaned out, most often using tooth-coloured composite resin that is shaped and bonded to blend with the surrounding tooth. It is usually completed in a single appointment and is one of the most routine restorative procedures in dentistry.

Tooth Decay Treatment is also among the treatments offered here, and the practice can explain what it involves and whether it fits your situation at a consultation.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward. What to tell about dr. Bird... professional, always in the best mood, kids adore her. Very reliable, and in one word magician. We couldn't believe she'll be able to fix the hot mess in our son's mouth, but she did. He has a perfect smile. And the staff. A hand picked.

Amazing experience with Dr. Bird and her team! The dental assistants were so kind and made my son feel completely comfortable. Dr. Bird went above and beyond, she explained everything clearly and truly cares about her patients’ comfort. My son left smiling and unafraid to return. Highly recommend! 💙

can’t recommend dr. bird enough! i’ve taken both my 4 & 2 year old to her and we have loved her approach, team & care. her understanding of airway health has been priceless. not many dentist understand or have a knowledge base of pallet size & development for kids and the affects it can negatively have on not just their smile but so many facets of their health. we are so grateful to have dr. bird as a tool in our toolbelt to provide our kids the healthiest life we can. grateful!

Our myofunctional therapist recommended Dr Bird for an expander and tongue tie release for my 6 yr old. I felt like Dr Bird has kept up with the latest research on airway and oral function and took great care of my son. My son went from being a selective eater who won’t talk much because of his speech impairment to a kid who will eat anything and talk your ear off! Some of the staff is a little less than friendly but Dr Bird is great and we are going to miss working with her!

Our family of 6 travels 50+ minutes to see Dr. Bird because yes, she is THAT good! Her attention to detail, playful disposition and overall strive for excellence make my kids and I feel safe, heard and cared for. She’s helped us tremendously (educating and correcting) with one of our son’s mouth/bite, and I’m so glad we started coming when we did. Dr. Bird and her team are always accommodating of our drive and busy schedule, and every assistant treats my kids like family which would ease any parent! 10/10 Dr. Bird fans!

Dr bird is just spectacular! We have been with her practice for many years now. My daughter was born with 2 missing permanent teeth and since she was a toddler we have been working with dr bird to plan the best possible outcome for a beautiful smile. Well it has been magic! She is 14 now and with a perfect smile! Couldn’t be happier. My oldest son also had orthodontist work at the bird house and his smile is a happy one too! I definitely recommend dr bird ortho and pediatric Dentistry.

Our family started seeing Dr. Bird in 2009 when my oldest was just a baby, and both of my children have been patients ever since — from pediatric dentistry through orthodontics. Today my youngest had his braces removed, and we could not be happier with the beautiful, healthy smiles Dr. Bird and her staff helped create. Thanks to Dr. Bird’s expertise, guidance, and treatment plans, neither of my children has ever had a cavity. That is truly amazing and speaks volumes about the quality of care they provide. The entire staff is always pleasant, welcoming, and friendly. The office itself is beautiful, bright, and open, making every visit a positive experience. I highly recommend Dr. Bird Pediatric Dentistry and Braces by Bird to any family looking for exceptional dental and orthodontic care for their children!

Tried to do dental work on me I did not need, I've been going here for a while and always had a positive experience, but last visit they told me i had a " handful " of cavities and did not tell me what teeth and an exact number, paid out of pocket for a second opinion and surprise surprise not a single cavity, I looked at the scans myself and all my teeth have a healthy outer layer. If I would've went through with Bird's treatment plan there would be unnecessary work done on several teeth, I had a cavity filled here before and now I'm questioning if I even had one in the first place, do not take your kids here this is insane.

My children have been patients here for 8 yrs!! Dr. Bird and her staff are Amazing. She takes the time to explain the process. Im especially grateful to her and her assistant Haley for being so patient with my daughter who suffers with "Dental Anxiety". Dr. Bird gave us options and TODAY was a SUCCESS! I will continue to take the 1 hr drive because we are always reassured.

Horrible experience! Kids used bird since toddlers. Tried to upsell everything. Told us son needed tongue tie release, but 2 MDs couldn’t see anything. Son is fine. Tried to tell us our daughter had 5 cavities, but got a second opinion and zero. Just horrible
