About Birmingham Emergency Dental

Birmingham Emergency Dental operates from an Irondale-area office on Montevallo Road in the Crestline corridor, set up around urgent dental needs rather than routine recall scheduling. The format is similar to other dental urgent-care clinics — walk-in availability, same-day appointment slots, and a focus on stabilizing immediate problems before the patient returns to their regular dentist for follow-up restoration.

Cavity-related work often comes through urgently — a filling that fell out, a fracture that exposed nerve, or decay that progressed faster than expected and now hurts. The team handles same-day composite fillings, temporary restorations to stabilize a tooth until permanent work can be placed, and conservative decay treatment that prioritizes saving the tooth over aggressive removal. Other services include emergency extractions, broken-crown re-cementing, abscess management, and pain workups for patients who can't pinpoint why a tooth is bothering them.

If you've ever called your regular dentist and been told the next opening is three weeks out, a same-day urgent visit at a practice like this will at least stabilize the immediate problem.

Patients searching for general dentist near me in Birmingham, family dentist in Birmingham, or general dentistry in Birmingham, AL who urgently need same-day work often land at clinics like this when timing matters more than picking a long-term primary dentist. Walk-ins are accepted but calling ahead helps the team prep. For Crestline, Irondale, and east Birmingham patients dealing with a dental problem that genuinely cannot wait, this Montevallo Road emergency clinic belongs on the short list of urgent options for the area. If you're switching from a chain practice and you've never had a long-term solo or small-group dentist before, the visit pace tends to feel different — slower, more conversational, and often more thorough than the timed-slot model. Birmingham's metro dental capacity tightens and loosens by season — if the practice isn't accepting new patients on first call, asking about a waitlist position is worth the two minutes before moving on to other options.

What is a dental bridge and how does it work?
A bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring a false tooth to the teeth on either side of the gap, usually with crowns on those supporting teeth. It is fixed in place rather than removable.
Is a bridge or an implant better for a missing tooth?
They solve the same problem differently. A bridge is quicker and does not involve surgery, but it requires preparing the neighbouring teeth. An implant stands alone without altering adjacent teeth and preserves bone, though it takes longer and needs enough bone to place it.
Can gum disease make you lose teeth?
Yes — advanced gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It destroys the bone and fibres holding teeth in place, which is why teeth eventually loosen, and it usually progresses without pain.

Stop lying about your hours. It would feel better to stay home and wait for a reputable business. I walked up to see the sign showing closed that contradicted the online hours. Mine was the only car in the lot so nobody was on break

Thank goodness for emergency dentists open on off hours!!! I developed an abscess that needed to be taken care of on a Saturday morning. From the minute I walked in, Jai up front was so kind. Dr. Hansen and his sweet assistant Pranjali helped my situation and sent me off with antibiotics that are really helping my mouth. Thank you so much!!!

Dr. Hassan was amazing! I came in with so much pain, but he had me laughing and completely at ease. During the extraction, he made sure I was comfortable and pain-free the entire time, and even afterward I didn’t feel any pain. I truly appreciate how caring and attentive he was. I will definitely be returning!

I did a walk-in for a broke wisdom tooth, when i say Dr. Hassan hands down the best dentist. Mind you I’ve had two other teeth extractions. I didn’t feel the numbing, nor him pull my tooth & he told me two miniatures tops he would be done. He was done within one minute that baby was out! Let me not forget his amazing staff from the time you walk in the door to the back office. They greet you with generosity and ensure you’re comfortable throughout. Thank you Dr. Hanson

I had an infected wisdom tooth that was causing me so much pain and discomfort, but was so busy during the week so I was thankful to be able to come here on a Saturday. I decided to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed while I was in bc the others were starting to cause problems too. I was so nervous about this but Dr. Hansen explained everything and was assuring, confident, and patient. He did a wonderful job! He had to work around a lower jaw nerve close to my wisdom teeth which I know made things a bit complicated, but he is so skilled. I have a long history of needing extra local anesthesia which always makes me extra nervous for dental procedures but he made sure I got all I needed. It was an extremely busy day there but the whole team really knows what they’re doing and were able to keep things smooth! I’m a week out from the extraction and doing great. I’ll definitely be returning. Thank you!!
