About Birmingham Smiles Dentistry

Birmingham Smiles Dentistry sits on Lynngate Drive in southeast Birmingham, in a quieter residential pocket between the city core and the Mountain Brook municipal line. The practice handles general dentistry for the surrounding southeast Birmingham community — families with school-age kids, longtime homeowners, and the working professionals who anchor the area's residential blocks.

Cavity work covers the routine general-dentistry range. The team uses tooth-colored composite as the default material, with single-surface and multi-surface fillings, replacement fillings when older work has failed, and the call between filling and crown when more tooth structure has been compromised. Beyond fillings, services include cleanings and exams, root canals, crowns and bridges, basic extractions, gum-disease screening, teeth whitening, and emergency dental care. They'll be honest when a small early-stage cavity should be watched rather than drilled now — not every dark spot on an X-ray needs immediate intervention.

If you've been told several cavities at a different practice and you suspect the recommendations are aggressive, a fresh exam at a more conservative office gives you a comparison read on the same X-rays without sales pressure.

Patients searching for routine dental care in Birmingham, family dentist in Birmingham, or general dentistry in Birmingham, AL who live in southeast Birmingham, Mountain Brook, or Vestavia Hills often weigh practices like this one for the residential proximity and the routine focus. Birmingham Smiles Dentistry fits that pattern. The new-patient exam combines comprehensive radiographs, periodontal screening, and a treatment-plan walkthrough before any restorative work is scheduled. For southeast Birmingham families picking a regular general dental practice, this Lynngate Drive office is a sensible first appointment. It's worth asking whether the practice files insurance directly or expects payment up front and reimbursement separately, because the answer materially shifts how much you pay out of pocket on the visit day. For patients who grind their teeth or notice signs of nighttime clenching, flagging it at the new-patient exam matters more than most realize, since wear patterns affect filling material choices and crown planning over time.

What days is Birmingham Smiles Dentistry open?
Birmingham Smiles Dentistry is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Birmingham Smiles Dentistry offer?

How long does it take to recover from a tooth extraction?
The initial healing of the socket generally takes a week or two, with the first few days the most uncomfortable. Bone underneath continues remodelling for months, which matters if an implant is planned for the space later.
What is dry socket and how do I avoid it?
Dry socket happens when the blood clot protecting the healing site is lost too early, exposing bone, and it is notably painful. Avoiding smoking, drinking through a straw, and vigorous rinsing in the first few days is the main prevention.
Can I pay for dental work in instalments?
Some practices offer in-house payment arrangements and others work with third-party finance providers. Availability varies, so it is a fair question to ask when you first make contact rather than at the point of treatment.

Id give them 100 stars if i could! Never been welcomed and treated so well in my life. Just an amazing and genuine group of people. From the front desk all the way back to the dentist. They took excellent care of my baby child. We wont ever go anywhere else ever again!

Fabulous experience. The front office staff are so pleasant and kind every time I have spoken with them. Malea is the best hygienist ever, and the dentist was quick and professional!

From Holly to Nina to Dr. Nolen and Kellie the visit was Ah-mazing. Dr. Nolen listened to my needs and what would work best for my family especially financially. Its hard to find a dentist like this anymore. I am blessed to finally find someone that listens and gave me an entire treatment plan for my mouth. I can't wait to get my smile back

I’ve been a client at this practice for over 25 years and I don’t plan on going anywhere else. From Dr. Rosenstiel to Dr. Mann to ALL of the rest of the staff, everyone is so friendly and truly cares. Not to mention both doctors know how to give the best shots. IYKYK! Jiggle, jiggle. 😉

Birmingham Smiles does an incredible job! I can't remember the last time I had to wait more than 5 minutes and they are always friendly and helpful. My hygienist, Gina, is wonderful. Dr. Rosenstiel has done some significant work on me (that I had been putting off) that went extremely well - wish I had done it sooner. Can't recommend this practice any higher.

Wonderful experience - I have quite a few dental horror stories (yay, redheads!) and after recently receiving some rather barbaric treatment from another dentist, I called over 45 offices looking for one that could meet my needs. The staff was so kind throughout the consultation process, and booking the root canal / sedation. So friendly, so accommodating & made the experience the most relaxing and enjoyable dental experience I have had in my entire life. Although this office is out of my network, I plan to continue coming here in the future, regardless of the investment. My mental health, and physical wellbeing are worth the cost, and the Drs here most certainly are, too.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mann and Dr. Rosenstiel for 5 years after decades of dental phobia. They have worked with me to get a comfort care plan in place for any extensive work needed. Their ability to provide pain relief without using nitrous or twilight sedation is unparalleled. The finished work is gorgeous at much more reasonable pricing than the average OTM dentist. Their chair side assistants and hygienists are personable, kind and gentle.
