About Blakeney Dental
Blakeney Dental provides dental care on Blakeney Center Drive in the Provincetowne area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.
Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.
Prosthetic dentistry is the branch concerned with replacing missing teeth and restoring damaged ones — dentures, bridges, crowns, and implant-supported restorations all sit within this area, chosen based on how much natural tooth and bone remain.
Comprehensive care generally means a practice can handle most of a patient's dental needs in-house — preventive, restorative, and often minor cosmetic or surgical treatment — reducing how often patients are referred elsewhere for routine work.
A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been cleaned out, most often using tooth-coloured composite resin that is shaped and bonded to blend with the surrounding tooth. It is usually completed in a single appointment and is one of the most routine restorative procedures in dentistry.
Tooth Decay Treatment is also among the treatments offered here, and the practice can explain what it involves and whether it fits your situation at a consultation.
At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts. Excellent staff, speed and quality. Lucia is one of the best hygienists I’ve had. Would recommend their services without reservation!
Everybody is there very friendly and helpful! We always had very good experience over there
Myself along with my family were one of the first patients here back in 2005 when the doors opened. We have seen a lot of Dentists and Hygienist go. There was a recent change dentist seems fine but the front office staff they answer the phone and don’t state their name. They cancelled two of my families appointments due to an office closure and when I called to reschedule when the doctor returned and one family member had a heart issue and asked about pre medication not only could they not comprehend my questions they also promised to have the dentist call me back two weeks in a row and it never happened. We will be seeking a new practice.
Is this location closed? I came at 2pm for my appointment and the doors are locked and lights are off. No one is answering the calls either.
This was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional healthcare experiences I’ve dealt with. I scheduled an appointment over SIX MONTHS in advance. With no notice, the office canceled it at the last minute, using the excuse that someone was giving birth — something they obviously knew well ahead of time. Canceling a long-standing appointment days before it’s supposed to happen is completely unacceptable. I clearly explained that my son is an athlete who lives out of state and would only be home for a limited period. This appointment was urgent and needed to be rescheduled within a month. Instead of working with me, offering options, or showing any concern, the staff could not have cared less. I was met with attitude, dismissiveness, and zero effort to help. No attempt to switch dates, extend hours, or find any solution whatsoever. I was simply told there was nothing they could do and to essentially deal with it. For a medical office, this level of customer service is shocking. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no respect for a patient who planned far in advance and communicated clearly. If you value professionalism, communication, or patient care — look elsewhere. I would not recommend this office to anyone.
I’m so grateful for Dr. Chelsea Workman and the assistant who supported her during my visit. They were both incredibly professional, gentle, and truly put me at ease throughout my appointment. I’ve been searching for a new dental office for a while, so being welcomed into a place where I felt peaceful, comfortable, and genuinely cared for meant so much to me. Dr. Workman explained the best routine for my dental needs with patience and without any judgment, which I really appreciated. I’d highly recommend Ideal Dentistry in Blakeney to anyone looking for excellent care. I’m sincerely thankful for their kindness and professionalism, and I pray blessings over their entire team.
The care provided by the dentist was excellent from the very beginning. They were professional, kind, and very attentive to my needs. Each step of the procedure was clearly explained, which gave me a great sense of confidence and peace of mind. The office was clean and well equipped.
In June 2022, I received a dental crown at the office of Dr Sunar. Following the procedure, I began experiencing issues with the crown. Within less than two years, a cavity developed beneath it, which ultimately required complications and surgical treatment by a specialist to save the tooth. A subsequent evaluation including X-rays and a thorough examination by a different dentist, it was indicated that the crown needed to be replaced. The total cost for surgery and restoration exceeded $2000, an expense I had not anticipated. According to the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners, crowns typically carry a five-year warranty and should last between five and ten years. Mine failed far earlier. When I contacted the office to discuss this, no refund or partial reimbursement was offered. The crown I later received from a different provider fit perfectly and showed me how a well-made crown should look. Based on my experience, I would NOT return to this office in the future!
Been going here for years. Never had an issue (other than first dentist at this location 20 years ago…he was fired). Great people and teeth still look good ;) Lucia was my latest hygienist, she was wonderful! Super friendly and helpful. If you’re lucky, you’ll get Lucia.
I will never return to this dental practice. The support staff failed to inform me that my previous doctor had abruptly left, leaving me unaware of the change until I arrived. On top of that, they neglected to mention that no hygienists were available for my scheduled cleaning—something that should have been communicated in advance. While they claimed to have contacted me, the only message I received was an automated text reminder asking me to confirm or cancel my appointment. For a situation as serious as this, a direct phone call was warranted instead of relying on automated messaging. Adding to the incompetence, the front desk failed to notify me that the new dentist, Dr. Perez, was out of network, resulting in a bill I should not be responsible for. Beyond administrative failures, my experience with Dr. Perez was deeply concerning. His technique during a basic cleaning felt rushed and rudimentary, causing me pain multiple times—even after I specifically asked him to be careful around a sensitive tooth. To make matters worse, he was unable to properly read an X-ray taken that same day, missing an area requiring special attention, which led to sharp nerve pain. From check-in to treatment, this practice completely failed its responsibility to provide competent care and clear communication. I will be reporting them to the state board, as I believe these failures reflect a larger issue of negligence within the office.
