About Blue Periodontics and Implants

Blue Periodontics and Implants provides dental care on East Bell Road in the Paradise Valley Village area of Scottsdale, Arizona. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.

Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.

Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. How long do dental implants last?
The implant itself is designed to be permanent and frequently lasts decades. The crown attached to it is the part more likely to need replacing over time, and implants can still be lost to gum infection if cleaning is neglected.
What is a bone graft and why might I need one?
Bone shrinks after a tooth is lost, and if there is not enough left to anchor an implant, grafting rebuilds the volume first. It is a common preliminary step when a tooth has been missing for a long time.

The experience with Dr. Blue and her staff was as if a periodontist and day spa got together. I had oral surgery but was pampered like a king. The staff treated me like a honored part of their family, looking out for my every need. I came in to their quaint, but elegant waiting room and was greeted by name. I didn't wait long and when it came time for the procedure, while my mouth was still numb, Dr. Blue and staff went ahead and incorporated future work that needed to be done into the visit to save time and money. They gave me sunglasses to protect my eyes from the bright light and let me hold the suction straw to use whenever I needed. They worked out a payment plan that worked for me and later that night, Dr. Blue called to make sure the bleeding and pain were within tolerable limits. I have never liked having work done in my mouth, but this experience felt like a privilege and honor. I highly recommend this office. Thank you Dr. Blue!

Having never been to a periodontist, I was scared until I met Dr. Blue She immediately put me at eased. My procedure was pain free and during it, she asked repeatedly if anything hurt. Yet what REALLY set her apart from every other doctor I have seen, happened that evening. Dr. Blue called me to see how I was doing. That's never happened before. So besides personally treating patients as though they are family, her office staff is wonderful. All are extremely friendly and helpful. You can stop your search for a periodontist now. I doubt anyone can outdo Dr. Blue.
