Park Slope general practice on 4th Avenue

About Brooklyn Oak Dental Care

Brooklyn Oak Dental Care runs a general practice on 4th Avenue in Park Slope, a few blocks from the Gowanus border where the brownstone residential blocks transition into the lower-density commercial corridor. The patient base is the surrounding Park Slope and Gowanus community — families with school-age kids, professionals working in Manhattan or downtown Brooklyn, and longtime neighborhood residents who want a regular dental practice for the day-to-day rather than a specialty-focused office.

Filling work covers the routine general-dentistry range. The team handles tooth-colored composite restorations across all surfaces, replacement fillings when older work has cracked or leaked, and the diagnostic call between filling and crown when a tooth has lost more structure to decay. Beyond fillings, services include cleanings and exams, root canals, crowns and bridges, extractions, gum-disease screening, teeth whitening, and emergency visits. They'll review prior X-rays when patients bring records from previous practices, which gives the diagnostic call more context than starting completely from scratch.

If you've moved to Park Slope or Gowanus from another city and you're picking a new dentist, a new-patient exam that builds on your existing chart is more efficient than re-doing every baseline assessment.

Patients searching for family dentist in Brooklyn, dentist for whole family in Brooklyn, or general dentistry in Brooklyn, NY who live in Park Slope, Gowanus, or Boerum Hill often weigh practices like this one for the proximity and the routine general-dentistry focus. Brooklyn Oak fits that local pattern. The new-patient appointment typically combines comprehensive radiographs, periodontal screening, and a treatment-plan review at one visit before any restorative work is scheduled. For Park Slope and Gowanus families picking a regular general dental practice, this 4th Avenue office is a reasonable first appointment. Brooklyn dental capacity tightens and loosens by season — if the practice isn't accepting new patients on first call, asking about a waitlist position is worth the two minutes before moving on to other options.

Based on 4th Avenue in Brooklyn, New York, Brooklyn Oak Dental Care provides cosmetic dentistry and root canal treatment alongside routine dental care. The practice is open Monday through Friday. Contact details and a full list of services are on this page.

Stellar practice and Dr Fariha Hague is so talented, kind, and sweet! Edina the hygienist was also amazing and felt super relaxed in the chair while getting worked on. Staff and membership also five stars. I’ve been through many dentists in the city, but finally found MY dentist!

Great experience all around (for going to the dentist anyway!) Friendly staff and the team is excellent, thorough and patient. I had gum surgery and implants put in and they did a great job and made it about as painless an experience as it could possibly be. Many thanks to everyone on team!

I’ve been visiting Brooklyn Oak Dental for 1.5 years for regular semi-annual cleanings and dental X-rays. Initially, I was pleased to find a dentist office that’s friendly, professional and completed cleanings well. However, after by 3rd cleaning, I was suddenly billed $241.60 when my insurance did not change. They never disclosed that they were out of network and chose not to bill me for the first 2 sessions. I am shocked and incredibly disappointed by their lack of transparency. If I’d known, I would be able to make a choice on whether to continue with them and pay out of pocket or find another dentist.

I had a cleaning appointment with Dr. Akapo (Dr. A) today, and I had a very positive experience from start to finish. She was professional, attentive, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire appointment. She regularly checked in with me to ensure everything was going well, which I really appreciated. I needed anesthesia during the visit, and Dr. A was one of the gentlest dentists I have experienced when administering it. She was extremely careful and patient, making what can sometimes be an uncomfortable process feel much easier. Throughout the appointment, she took the time to explain each step and make sure I understood what was happening. She was caring, efficient, and created an environment where I felt relaxed and confident in her care. The reception team and Dr. A’s assistant were also excellent. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and professional, making the entire visit smooth and enjoyable. Overall, this is a fantastic dental team. I truly appreciate the level of care, communication, and attention to detail I received, and I would highly recommend Dr. Akapo and her team to anyone looking for a great dental experience.

This practice is incredibly well run and they go above and beyond to take care of the patient and not just their dental needs. I know I'm in good hands with Dr Haque. Additionally, they have an incredible oral surgeon , Dr. Vossughi, who is knowledgable, skilled and is excellent - I knew I was going to get good care. Everyone in this office is great - highly recommend.

The entire team is cheerful, kind, and have excellent skills. Dr. Fariha Haque did a build-up on a tooth with an exposed root and two crowns. The results are amazing. The crowned teeth look natural. I was impressed by her, and the team's, professionalism and caring attitude. There was no pain and she made sure that the fit was perfect. Thank you! Patricia P.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Akapo. On top of my dental care, she does myofascial release and OraLase red light therapy, and it’s like getting a really good massage. She’s so skilled with her hands, and the whole experience leaves me feeling great. And Dr. Muhammad has been wonderful in all the years I’ve gone to Brooklyn Oak.
