About Canyon State Oral & Dental Implant Surgery

Canyon State Oral & Dental Implant Surgery provides dental care on West Elliot Road in the Tierra Office Park area of Gilbert, Arizona. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. Do wisdom teeth always need to be removed?
No. Wisdom teeth that come through cleanly, in a good position, and can be kept clean are often left alone. Removal is generally advised when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front.
Why do wisdom teeth cause problems?
They arrive last, often into a jaw with no room left, so they become impacted or come through at an angle. Partly erupted wisdom teeth are also very difficult to clean, which is why they are prone to repeated infection and decay.
What happens during a routine dental examination?
The dentist checks the teeth for decay, examines the gums, looks at any existing fillings and crowns, and screens the soft tissues. X-rays are taken when there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth.

Every single person you deal with here from your first phone call to checking in, as well as the Dr and assistants, are all wonderful! Got me in for an emergency appointment quicker than I would’ve thought. The procedure went Really well, and I’m a Person who is stressed at a dentist. Not here!

As a Dental Hygienist, I have a different perspective on choosing an oral surgeon for my family. Every patient that I’ve seen that has had work done by Dr. Ray only has wonderful things to say about him and his office. Today, my dentally anxious daughter had all four wisdom teeth removed with sedation. Everything went great and we were done and on our way home in less than an hour. Without hesitation, I would refer my family to Dr. Ray for any of their oral surgery needs. You can be confident that you will get top-notch dental treatment and a safe and caring environment.

I just had my wisdom teeth extracted two days ago and the whole time leading up I was nervous but Dr. Ray and his team made the whole process flow super easily and quite literally painlessly. I was sent home with ibuprofen and Tylenol but I barely felt the need to take any. I expected way more pain and uncomfortablility but again the entire surgery went great. Everyone was extremely kind and informative, patient enough to answer all my nervous questions and listen to my concerns. 100% would recommend to anyone. Thank you Dr. Ray and Associates.

Dr. Ray and his staff were Amazing! My mother was in from out of town and was in a lot of pain from a broken tooth, a cavity in another tooth and infection in those areas. After seeing a wonderful dentist she was told she needed to have oral surgery to get them out. Canyon State Oral Surgery stepped up to the plate and allowed her to come in on the same day. My mother was a happy woman to get those teeth out and praised Dr. Ray and the staff for being so caring. Happy Momma, Happy Daughter! Thank you all!
