About Casas Adobes Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery PC

Casas Adobes Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery PC operates on North La Cholla Boulevard in the Friendship Villas At La Cholla area of Tucson, Arizona. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment. What services does Casas Adobes Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery PC offer?

What age is best to have wisdom teeth taken out?
Late teens to early twenties is often easier, because the roots are less fully formed and bone is more forgiving, so healing tends to be quicker. Removal is still routinely done later when there is a reason for it.
How long is recovery after wisdom tooth removal?
Most of the swelling and discomfort settles within about a week, with the first two or three days the most noticeable. Surgical removal of an impacted tooth generally takes longer to recover from than a simple extraction.
What causes bad breath and can a dentist help?
Persistent bad breath most often comes from bacteria on the tongue and around the gumline, and gum disease is a frequent underlying cause. Because it is usually oral in origin, a dental examination is a sensible first step.

I was very stressed and nervous about having the tooth extracted. The staff and Dr eased my nerves and all went smoothly!

I usually don't write a poor review however, because of how I was treated, I felt I must. When I spoke with Laurie over the phone in order to make an appointment, she was so kind and courteous. Because of this, I had high expectations that I would have a pleasant Unfortunately, this was not the case. It is not reassuring when the DMD says "I don't know what's going on" without a follow up statement that would offer a modicum of comfort or encouragement. I felt the need to offer "I hope I'm not being a difficult patient" because I sensed a lack of caring and compassion from the dental assistant and the dentist himself. Fortunately I didn't have to have a tooth extracted. Debris was cleaned out of the hole. So I left the office with a hole in my tooth, still no real reason as to why there was a hole and a $500 Treatment Plan"that was presented to me AFTER the treatment, which was not covered by insurance. I was told that Dr. Rivera gave me a"discount" (the bill was originally $632 for nitrous oxide and him picking out the debris from the hole--5 minutes max). Now I need to make a follow up appointment with my dentist to get the hole filled, which I hope to keep as clean as possible until then. A word to the wise if you go to this practice: ask to see the comprehensive dental treatment plan BEFORE you have ANY work done. Ask lots of questions (which I thought I did), get thorough answers and if you still feel uncomfortable, be brave enough to leave. I wished I did.

X-rays, diagnosis, and consultation were all very good and professional. Dr. Schmidt is the best. His staff is very professional. Everything was much to my liking except the prognosis. And Dr. Schmidt even apologized because I don’t have enough bone to get implants. Now that’s some sweet doctor “bedside manner”!!

Doctor T and staff were genuinely thorough, kind, respectful, and superior knowledgeable in treating my daughter. Instead of rushing us into an expensive surgery that would have benefited them, they gave us a clear path and support to get my daughter feeling better.

I had a really positive experience with my recent tooth extraction. The service was right on time—they brought me back exactly when they said they would, which I really appreciated. The entire process took about 20 minutes from start to finish, and everything felt efficient without being rushed. The nurse beforehand was very thorough and clearly explained what to expect, which helped ease any nerves I had going in. The doctor was equally impressive—very informative and communicative throughout the procedure. He walked me through each step and explained why he was doing it, which made me feel comfortable and confident in his care. Overall, the experience was smooth, professional, and well-organized. I was in and out quickly with great service, and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing dental work.

Today I accompanied my father to his dental appointment, and as someone who works behind the scenes supplying staff and temporary professionals to dental offices, I can confidently say I know dentistry and dental operations inside and out. We arrived without some of the information needed for a comprehensive exam, and I truly expected we might have to reschedule. Instead, Krystal at the front desk was incredibly patient, kind, and accommodating. The office manager still permitted us to be seen, and I deeply appreciated their flexibility as we waited for the data to be delivered to the facility. Dr. Saghafi was extremely gracious and understanding, and Gabby the assistant was incredibly helpful throughout the visit. The facility is clean, well-organized, and professionally run. What impressed me most was how calmly and professionally the front office handled multiple difficult and complaining patients—always with a smile and outstanding customer service. Overall, I’m very impressed and grateful for the care and professionalism shown to my father and our family. Highly recommend.
