General dentistry in Dilworth, Charlotte
Smyleee Rating
Very Good
Center City Dental is a general dentistry practice on Kenilworth Avenue in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. The office provides everyday dental care for adults, conveniently located close to Uptown Charlotte.
General dentistry forms the foundation of the practice. Comprehensive examinations, professional cleanings, tooth-colored fillings, and monitoring for tooth decay and gum disease keep teeth and gums healthy. Consistent preventive visits are the most dependable way to catch small problems early, before they need more extensive treatment.
A defining feature of the practice is its focus on patient education. The team takes time to explain what they are doing and why, and offers practical guidance on home care, so patients leave each visit better prepared to look after their own teeth.
The practice operates as a smaller, more personal office, the kind of practice patients return to over many years for steady, familiar care. The team works gently and at an unhurried pace, which matters for patients who feel uneasy about dental visits.
The office also keeps the practical side of care straightforward, providing clear insurance breakdowns so patients understand their coverage and costs before treatment.
A new-patient visit generally begins with a thorough examination and cleaning, with findings and any recommended treatment explained clearly before care begins.

Very friendly staff, very skilled hygienists and dentists. Spotless facility. And I love how proactive they are in explaining what they're doing, why they're doing it, what I should be doing, and how to do it. Every time I visit I leave feeling more prepared to take care of my teeth and health.
I began visiting this practice during COVID and initially had a positive experience. The quality of the dental work itself has always been strong. However, the ongoing lack of communication and increasingly high staff turnover should be noted as indicators of what to expect as a patient. I specifically chose a smaller practice because I believed it would provide a more personal and consistent experience. That was true for a period of time, until Dr. Walsh significantly reduced his days in the office. If your treatment requires his involvement, be prepared for very limited scheduling options. Additionally, the practice recently changed its appointment confirmation system—which is understandable—but the rollout has been poorly executed and unreliable. My greatest concern is the absence of transparency and proactive communication. If the office opens at 8:00 AM, it would be reasonable to have staff on-site earlier to manage scheduling issues—especially when cancellations are due to short staffing. Instead, I received multiple automated appointment reminders, confirmed as requested, only to be called *while driving to the appointment* to be told it was canceled due to staffing issues. This demonstrated a clear lack of respect for my time and commitment as a patient. When I expressed my frustration and concerns directly, I was later removed as a patient — something I only learned when I called to follow up and spoke with the dismissive Practice Manager, Maria. This occurred more than a week after the canceled appointment, further reinforcing the pattern of inadequate communication and disregard for the patient experience. In summary, the dental work itself is very good. However, the communication, support, scheduling practices, and overall administrative operations need substantial improvement. Until that happens, the patient experience will continue to fall short of the level of professionalism and consideration one should be able to expect from a healthcare provider.
Dr. Taylor Knier!! Wow, 1 - she is Beautiful! 2 - she is very informative, and very attentive, and listens to her patients 3 - her chairside manner is amazing!! And she is just wonderful at what she does!! As I not only as a patient of hers, now, but have had the pleasure of also working with her, and shes nothing short of amazing!! Love her forever!!! The staff, oh my!! Soooo sweet, very informative as well, not one single thing i did not enjoy about my trip!! ❤️
This is an amazing place for the much dreaded dental work, yet always pain free. Everyone is patient & nice. They actually care. Maria provides an insurance breakdown & lets you know how much in benefits is available for next time w/your own copy. You won't be disappointed.
This team is Aces! Been going here for at least 8 years. They are always so kind, and chill, and gentle! Highest recommendation.
