Dr. Julie Driscoll trained close to home before going looking for more. Dental school was at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she took the Academy of General Dentistry's senior student award; a chief residency at UNC-Chapel Hill followed, then a residency program with the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Charleston Dental Studio reflects that mix directly. It reads as a general practice with a deliberate cosmetic tilt, with cleanings, fillings, crowns, dentures and periodontal therapy on one side of the menu and veneers, smile makeovers, internal bleaching, porcelain inlays and full-mouth rehabilitation on the other.
Veneers are what most people arrive asking about, and the honest framing is that they are permanent. A porcelain veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front of a tooth, and to make room for it the dentist removes a sliver of enamel, usually a fraction of a millimeter. Enamel does not grow back. Once a tooth has been prepared it will need a veneer or a crown from then on. That is a fair trade for badly worn, chipped or deeply discolored front teeth. It is a much heavier commitment if the real complaint is mild crowding, which Invisalign can often solve without touching the enamel at all. A good consultation puts both routes on the table rather than one.
Two smaller things distinguish the office. The first is guided biofilm therapy, a cleaning protocol that paints a disclosing dye onto the teeth so the plaque is visible before anything touches it, then removes deposits with a fine air-polishing powder ahead of any hand scaling. Patients who tense up at the sound of a scaler tend to notice the difference. The second is a comfort list that runs to blankets, neck pillows, warm lavender towels, a TV overhead and TMJ massage for people who clench.

The office is at 1940 Algonquin Road, Suite 305, in the 29405 zip north of the historic district and near the I-26 corridor, which makes it a straightforward drive from the upper peninsula, Park Circle and North Charleston. Hours are unusual: Monday through Thursday, 10am to 5pm. That late start is a gift if mornings are impossible for you and a problem if you need a chair before work.

I’m pretty particular when it comes to dental work, especially cosmetic dentistry. I’ve had work done in Palm Beach and New York City, so I have pretty high standards. While I was back in Charleston, I came to Charleston Dental Studio for a cleaning and ended up getting composite bonding and I honestly couldn’t be more impressed. The results are incredibly natural, and the attention to detail was exceptional. The entire team, Delani, Charlotte, Kalyn, and Dr Driscoll were professional, welcoming, and made the experience seamless from start to finish. I’m beyond happy with my smile and can confidently say this is one of the best dental experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend!
Wow! I can’t say enough about my wonderful experience with the women at Charleston Dental Studio. Kalyn kicked off my appointments with good vibes that instantly put me at ease. Delani is an absolute wizard, I have never had such a pain free dental experience in my life. Completely painless Novocain injections and a deep cleaning. Even their intern Meredith was a ray of sunshine. And then Dr Driscoll was such a calming communicator and gave me the smile I’ve been dreaming of since I was 17 with the icon resin treatment. First time I’ve felt like really excellent dental health is doable without the dread. Easy 5 stars.
Dr. Driscoll and team (Kalyn , Charlotte, and Delani) at Charleston Dental Studio are truly exceptional. Their work is incomparable and the level of care, precision, and artistry Dr. Driscoll brings to dentistry is unmatched. I would trust her hands above anyone else and would choose her over and over again. The studio itself is also beautiful, aesthetically, pleasing, calming, and soothing from the moment you walk in. Every detail feels intentional, and the entire experience reflects the same level of excellence Dr. Driscoll brings to her work. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Everyone at Charleston Dental Studio is so customer-focused and creates a wonderful, positive atmosphere where you are truly cared for. I recently had composite bonding done by Dr. Driscoll after I chipped my tooth. Before finding her, I was SO worried that fixing my tooth would make it stick out like a sore thumb if it didn’t match my other teeth. The before and after pictures of other patients made me feel confident in my decision. And WOW, the result is so natural and completely blends in with the surrounding natural teeth. When she gave me the mirror to see what I thought, I couldn’t stop “oohing and aahing” - Dr. Driscoll is an artist! Her amazing skill is matched by her desire for the patient to be happy with the result. She has a kind disposition and comes across as willing and ready to make adjustments if the patient wants them. That is SOOOO much more desirable than a big-ego doctor. And while at the office, you feel like you’re getting treated at a spa with the special touches to make you feel extra comfortable- I opted for a neck pillow, blanket, and lavender cloth. I also watched Netflix on the TV mounted to the ceiling specifically for patients while they’re declined in the chair. They gave me the remote and headphones too! And lastly, they followed up a couple days later to see how I was feeling about my result— still just as thrilled as the first impression. Thank you all so much!!!
