About Charlotte Community Health Clinic
Charlotte Community Health Clinic provides dental care on Medical Plaza Drive in the Prosperity Church Road area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Gum disease treatment ranges from a deeper professional cleaning for early inflammation through to more involved periodontal care once bone around the teeth has started to be affected. Bleeding gums are usually the earliest sign, and the early stage is reversible with proper cleaning and better daily plaque control.
Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.
Comprehensive care generally means a practice can handle most of a patient's dental needs in-house — preventive, restorative, and often minor cosmetic or surgical treatment — reducing how often patients are referred elsewhere for routine work.
A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been cleaned out, most often using tooth-coloured composite resin that is shaped and bonded to blend with the surrounding tooth. It is usually completed in a single appointment and is one of the most routine restorative procedures in dentistry.
A professional cleaning removes the plaque and hardened tartar that brushing and flossing cannot reach, particularly along the gumline, and is the core of routine preventive care. Most people benefit from a cleaning roughly every six months, more often for those managing gum disease.
Tooth Decay Treatment is also among the treatments offered here, and the practice can explain what it involves and whether it fits your situation at a consultation.
Affordable care means the practice sets out to make treatment accessible on a self-pay basis or through a payment arrangement, rather than assuming every patient arrives with comprehensive insurance. It is worth asking directly what options exist before assuming a needed treatment is out of reach. Excellent service from all the staff, and my doctor, Israel Mendez, is a very kind and professional person who has helped me tremendously throughout my process! Thank you!
Everyone was so nice and helpful! I saw a nurse practitioner, and she was very thorough and took her time. She, and the nurse who took my vitals, asked lots of questions about my life to determine if I needed any other care but the issue I was there for. I would highly recommend CCHC.
Great recommendation to everyone. Very good services
Every time I visit the doctors I have a great experience. Everyone is nice
amazing service by the providers here and as well as the medical assistant or nurse by the name is Karen with curly hair and glasses! she was very very extremely helpful, very professional..drew my labs and gave me a vaccine and didn’t feel a think. very attentive to me and made sure i was feeling well and up to date on everything. definitely always excited when i have a appointment with Rosa Medina knowing she will be there as well as Rosa amazing care by her!
Let me tell you, i needed help, asap and they were rite on it!!!! I was introduced to Dr. Israel Mendez, and he truley, genuinely cares, his concern for my health is amazing, i wouldnt want to change or go anywhere else! When i started out i had no health insurance, they treated me as if i was a millionaire😅and they worked with me until i recieved my insurance!!! Yes Dr Israel Mendez is the bestess!!! Love the staff and all! He also made sure all of my other needs and Dr appts were successful.
I had a very strange experience trying to apply as a new patient and set up an appointment. I called to set a date and the woman who answered the phone sounded like she hadn’t slept in days most likely because the song old McDonald was blasting so loud in the background that I could hardly hear anything she was saying. Later I get a call about not receiving my pay stubs so I email them and receive this odd and poorly written response. I understand language barriers but this is a very strange and unprofessional method of communication. I canceled the appointment as I do not feel comfortable sharing anymore information with this institution.
Terrible. Called 5 times to get a prescription updated. The providers don't check messages from staff. Called on Monday, Wednesday, then Thursday! Still prescription not updated. Every time they say that they sent the provider a message. Nothing is happening. I need my medication! Total lack of competence !!
New patient and already disappointed. I showed up on time for my appointment only to learn it was canceled without any notice. I left work early, lost money, and wasted my time. Calling the clinic for answers was pointless—the phone rang with no response. Completely unprofessional experience. Be warned.
Great First Impression I had a wonderful experience at Charlotte Community Health Clinic and wanted to share my visit in detail. I arrived at 12:45 PM for my 1:20 PM appointment and was promptly checked in by the receptionist. Despite managing several other patients who arrived shortly after me, she was organized and efficient—directing them to sign in and have a seat while continuing to assist others smoothly. Around 1:30 PM, I was called back by Claire, who immediately made me feel welcomed. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and showed genuine care throughout our interaction. Claire demonstrated professionalism and built rapport effortlessly. She also provided me with helpful resources based on my responses, and thoughtfully followed up with me before I left. Dr. Rosa Medina, who conducted my physical, was equally impressive. She introduced herself warmly and was an excellent active listener. Dr. Medina picked up on subtle cues during our conversation and connected me with Rachel, who could speak with me further about additional services. I really appreciated Dr. Medina’s honesty and thoroughness. She also let me know she’d be happy to see me again but was transparent about her limited availability due to high patient retention—an uncommon but highly professional gesture that I truly respected. Rachel took the time to introduce herself and spent about 20 minutes going over services, asking rapport-building questions, and actively listening to my needs. She was kind, helpful, and made me feel heard. Before I left, Yvette (if I caught her name correctly) assisted with scheduling my follow-up appointments and offered me a printed summary of my visit. Overall, every staff member I encountered showed genuine care, professionalism, and a sense of community that made me feel right at home. Whether you're new to Charlotte like I am or a long-time resident, I highly recommend Charlotte Community Health Clinic. They truly go above and beyond for their patients.
I had a wonderful experience today at Charlotte Community Health Clinic - University during an appointment for my son. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. They were organized, attentive, and made us feel completely at ease throughout the visit. A very special thank you to Dr. Tiffany G. Byerly, MD — she was incredibly compassionate, knowledgeable, and thorough. Her warm approach and clear communication truly made a difference for our family. It’s clear that she and the entire team are dedicated to providing quality healthcare to the community. We’re very grateful for the excellent service and support, and highly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking attentive and respectful medical care.
