About Charlotte Progressive Dentistry

Charlotte Progressive Dentistry provides dental care on Colony Road in the Olde Providence South area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the space, and allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. Its reputation for being painful is largely outdated — carried out under local anaesthetic, it typically relieves pain rather than causing it.

Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Oral surgery covers procedures beyond routine treatment — surgical extractions including impacted wisdom teeth, implant placement, and bone grafting among the more common ones. The distinguishing feature is generally that tissue is opened and closed as part of the procedure, rather than treated at the surface.

Endodontic treatment concerns the nerve and pulp inside the tooth, most commonly through root canal treatment and retreatment of a previously treated tooth. Endodontists take on the more complex cases, including teeth with unusual root anatomy or a root canal that did not fully resolve.

Prosthetic dentistry is the branch concerned with replacing missing teeth and restoring damaged ones — dentures, bridges, crowns, and implant-supported restorations all sit within this area, chosen based on how much natural tooth and bone remain.

Comprehensive care generally means a practice can handle most of a patient's dental needs in-house — preventive, restorative, and often minor cosmetic or surgical treatment — reducing how often patients are referred elsewhere for routine work.

A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been cleaned out, most often using tooth-coloured composite resin that is shaped and bonded to blend with the surrounding tooth. It is usually completed in a single appointment and is one of the most routine restorative procedures in dentistry. Highly recommend especially for restorative dentistry. I was honestly terrified to go to a dentist for the first time in 15 years but they were GREAT. I had a laundry list of problems to deal with and I was fully expecting to get the lecture about how stupid and careless I'd been with my dental care but it never came. I never felt judged even for a second by anyone from Dr. Camp, to the hygienist, to the admin staff- everyone was nothing but pleasant and supportive. The staff also makes a concerted effort to always refer to me by my prefered nickname and not the name on my chart which is very much appreciated.

Charlotte Progressive Dentistry has very friendly and professional staff. I like how they explain each procedure and take care of their patients. I see and hear it as soon as I walk in their office. I am not a big fan of going to the dentist but they make it as pleasant as possible. I highly recommend them!

Went in today to fix 2 crowns. Danielle was wonderful in prepping, taking pictures and assisting. But Dr Camp was the BEST. He’s so knowledgeable and kind. I’ve never had any dentist with the skills he showed today. Numbing is the worse but he really knows his stuff and did a great job. I’ll return to finish what was started today.

I was a new patient at this office and, after my initial visit, was told I needed four fillings. This felt odd and excessive to me, especially given that I’ve been seeing dentists regularly for over 30 years. I have had multiple crowns and fillings over the years, but a root canal has never been suggested before and without discussing a need for a root canal I had to sign paperwork that care could lead to a root canal. Despite my hesitation, I proceeded with the recommended fillings. Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with the quality of the work. The teeth that received fillings now feel very sharp around the edges, unlike other fillings, and there has been a rough film on the sides for several weeks. During the procedure, the dentist was carrying on a conversation with the assistant, which made me uncomfortable and unsure whether my care had his full attention. After the procedure, I began experiencing pain only when flossing, which seemed unusual. After a few weeks of this I called the office to ask about this, the front desk staff immediately stated that I would need a root canal. I found it concerning that someone without a dental degree, who had not examined me, would make such a serious clinical determination. Based on my symptoms, that conclusion also seems unlikely. Overall, this experience left me feeling uneasy and dissatisfied with the care I received. I will not be returning to this office. Update: Damage was done to two roots, which is what was causing the tooth pain. That pain faded with time. Additionally, I had sharp edges that needed to be smoothed and polishing was necessary to remove the texture on the sides of my teeth.
