About Chicago Oral Surgery & Implant Center

Based on West Washington Boulevard in the West Loop area of Chicago, Illinois, Chicago Oral Surgery & Implant Center is a dental practice serving the area. Wisdom teeth are removed when they are impacted, repeatedly infected, decayed, or damaging the tooth in front, since they arrive last and often into a jaw with no room left. Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out — one that erupts cleanly and can be kept clean is often left alone.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Chicago Oral Surgery & Implant Center located in Chicago?

What days is Chicago Oral Surgery & Implant Center open?
Chicago Oral Surgery & Implant Center is open Monday through Saturday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Chicago Oral Surgery & Implant Center offer?
Listed services at Chicago Oral Surgery & Implant Center include Wisdom Teeth Removal. The full list is shown on this page.
What age is best to have wisdom teeth taken out?
Late teens to early twenties is often easier, because the roots are less fully formed and bone is more forgiving, so healing tends to be quicker. Removal is still routinely done later when there is a reason for it.
Why do wisdom teeth cause problems?
They arrive last, often into a jaw with no room left, so they become impacted or come through at an angle. Partly erupted wisdom teeth are also very difficult to clean, which is why they are prone to repeated infection and decay.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease or a history of decay a dentist may suggest coming more often. The point of regular visits is mostly to catch problems while they are still small and cheap to treat.

Recently my Dad had a dental infection. In less than 24 hours, he was referred to Dr. Michael Lee of Chicago Oral Surgery & Implant Center (West Loop) for emergency dental surgery as a new patient. Dad’s dental infection had caused facial swelling and pain that was so severe that his dentist advised him to go to a hospital ER to ensure that his infection had not blocked his airways, which could lead to a life-threatening medical emergency. The wait time was brief and the staff members were extremely polite, informative and professional. Most impressive was Dr. Lee’s chair side manner, detailed explanation of the procedure, skills as an oral surgeon and genuine interest in Dad's well-being before and after surgery. Dad is a nonagenarian. He said in his lifetime, no doctor had ever called him after surgery to see how he was progressing. “You can tell when you first enter their office, that everything about Dr. Michael Lee is ‘100% first class!’” My Dad and I are very grateful for the exceptional experience in dental care!

Best experience ever! Dr Lee is incredibly kind and professional, and the extraction of two wisdom teeth is very smooth and not swollen at all. There is no nerve damage and no dry socket, which I worried at first. The recovery is good. Highly recommend!

Came in to get my lower wisdom teeth removed. Very grateful for a smooth experience. Opted for IV Anesthesia, and the procedure went without a hitch. Huge fan of the modern office they have in both their West Loop and Park Ridge location. They provided me with all the instructions and materials for post surgery care after which is much appreciated. Still recovering a week later as I had a bit of a complicated case, but everything is on target. Dr. Ledger also personally called me after my surgery to check up on me which is really appreciated. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get their wisdom teeth removed.

This place is located in the west loop Chicago and the staff is welcoming and polite. Appointment based system obviously. I went there to get a wisdom tooth removed via surgery and the staff and Dr. Ledger explained the process to me in detail. There consultation cost is straight away $150 which I feel is expensive. Without a dental insurance, like in my case , the procedure will be expensive on the pocket. I will give the cost breakdown below. On the day of the surgery, I just took local anesthesia without knock-out sedation (completely doable). I just felt the pressure and the surgery with stitches was done in less than 20 mins. The only thing is there was some varied information that Dr provided me in contrast to the staff about Antibiotic medication. Post surgery they will also give a recover kit, which contains soothing gel, some mouth cotton towels, an irrigation syringe, ice pack and post surgery instruction paper. Dr Ledger personally called me later that day to check on me, which I felt good about. After surgery it’s normal to feel pain and get excessive swelling. Everything will go away gradually and continue on the medication as directed. I also went for a free visit checkup 7 days after the surgery. ————- Cost breakdown without insurance as of April 2026: Consultation fee & CT scan: $150 Surgical cost for one tooth removal: $785 Other Drugs &/or medicaments, rprt: $70 ______ Other sedation cost they gave me which I opted out of: Deep sedation 15 mins: $365 Deep sedation next 15 mins: $365 Therapeutic Drug injection,2 or More Drugs: $245

I got four of my wisdom teeth removed today and honestly had such a great experience with this team. Dr. Ledger and his staff are incredibly professional & kind, and they really take the time to answer all your questions and make sure you feel comfortable. I was pretty nervous going in, but I’m not exaggerating when I say it felt like I blinked and it was over. When I woke up, I was still under the effects of sedation and definitely saying some nonsense (a little embarrassing 😅), but Ashley was so kind and reassuring the whole time, she made me feel completely safe. I highly recommend this place. They also offer two different payment plan options, I went with Cherry, and the whole process was super smooth and easy to set up.

Folks, let me tell you, I've been through some bad experience with dental clinics and their dentists, and I am so freaking scared of it. I was so nervous about getting my wisdom teeth pulled, but I’m SO glad I came to this clinic. The whole team was super friendly and actually listened to my concerns, which reasured me a lot. BTW I've never had so much laugh at the dentist with one of the nurse assistants, she was very funny. The procedure itself was way faster and easier than I expected. I've never seen procedure that short! All it took was less than 10min to pull out two wisdom teeth! Dr. Ledger was great—very gentle and kept making sure I was doing okay. The place is also really clean and modern, which is always a plus. What really stood out was that they actually checked in on me the same day to see how I was feeling. Overall, you don't see that kind of care everywhere. If you're stressed about dental work, definitely come here. They really take care of you and most importantly they make recover so much easier and faster. I will definitely come back.

Dr. Ledger’s office was outstanding from start to finish. Getting your wisdom teeth removed can be intimidating, but they made the entire experience seamless. The procedure took less than 20 minutes and was completely pain-free. Dr. Ledger is a true professional, and the staff went above and beyond with scheduling, insurance coordination, and clear post-op instructions. An exceptional end-to-end experience. Highly recommend.
