About Children's Dental FunZone - West LA
Children's Dental FunZone - West LA provides dental care on West Pico Boulevard in the Pico-Robertson area of Los Angeles, California. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.
Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.
A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. Get in touch through it to ask questions or book a visit.

I love the service, thank you so much! 100% recommended 👌
Very good every one friendly doctors are amazing
I had a very disappointing experience at this office. My daughter came in for her scheduled orthodontic appointment and was in pain due to her braces. We were initially told she would not be seen because of a missed payment from February, even though our account is set up on automatic payments and this was a one-time issue. I resolved the payment the same day, but even after that, we were still made to wait about an hour while the doctor went to lunch instead of addressing a child who was in discomfort. What was most concerning was the behavior of the office manager, Araceli. Her attitude was rude, dismissive, and lacked compassion. There was no effort to help, explain, or show understanding just a very cold and unprofessional approach. I do want to acknowledge that the doctor and the rest of the staff were kind and professional, which made the situation even more frustrating because the overall patient experience is clearly being impacted by management. Based on this experience, the office should seriously consider stronger leadership in that role. I understand offices have policies, but denying or delaying care for a child in pain, and treating patients this way, is unacceptable. I hope the office takes this feedback seriously and improves how they handle situations like this in the future.
Great caring staff. Friendly and understanding. The dentist and doctors specialist that I’ve meet took great care of my son when he had to go through a major dental procedure. They follow up with me and gave me more information on what to expect for the month going back to normal eating habits. 10/10 recommended. They know how to make kids less stressed about seeing the dentist.
I had a pretty intense experience here with my son, who has severe dental anxiety. When I say severe, I mean he becomes a completely different kid the moment he’s in the chair. Our first visit didn’t go well—during the initial attempt to numb him for an extraction, he panicked and jumped, which understandably made the dentist uncomfortable. She decided not to continue, and while that was frustrating in the moment, I actually respect that decision. If a provider doesn’t feel they can handle that level of anxiety, it’s better they step back. We came back the very next day, and the experience was completely different. A new dentist (who I believe may have even been pregnant at the time) came in, along with a very patient and supportive team. My son was still extremely scared, loud, and resistant—but this team showed up. It truly took a group effort to get him through four rounds of numbing injections and four extractions. I could tell they had a busy schedule and patients waiting, but she never rushed him. She stayed calm, talked him through everything, and gave him the time he needed to get through each step. That kind of patience is not easy to find. My son still doesn’t love the dentist (and probably won’t anytime soon), but they got him through a really difficult procedure and, most importantly, got him out of pain. For parents with anxious kids—this place can handle it, but the right provider makes all the difference. We’re grateful we came back and got the care we needed.
I have been bringing my son since he was little and he is now a teen. Now my toddler comes here too and we have had nothing but a great experience! Both children are always comfortable and happy to go to the dentist. All staff are friendly! The biggest bonus is the time spent. You don’t wait but a few minutes to be seen which is great for children.
Absolutely love Children’s Dental FunZone! We had such a great experience here. The staff is incredibly kind, patient, and wonderful with kids — they truly know how to make little ones feel comfortable and at ease. The service was top-notch from start to finish. My child actually enjoyed the visit, which says a lot! Another fun bonus: they have awesome prizes that really motivate the kids and make the whole experience exciting. Highly recommend to any parents looking for a fun, stress-free dental visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!
