About Chisholm Creek Dental

Chisholm Creek Dental provides dental care on North Pennsylvania Avenue in the Northwest Oklahoma City area of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. My first visit to Chisholm Creek Dental was for an emergency. I was in extreme pain. The whole staff was so kind and considerate. Dr Horning wasn’t able to extract my tooth but she got me into a specialist the same day! I highly recommend Chisholm Creek for professional and excellent service.

It was quite good! I hadn't been to a dentist in a while, and was definitely nervous in part due to that fact alone, among other things. They were very kind and nice to talk to, and helped a TON. Everything seemed really reasonably priced too, and they have good plans so the most people can have healthy teeth as possible.

Dr Horning very knowledgeable about dentistry, and very thorough explaining my problems and treatment plan. She took ample time ensuring I understood my treatment and the need for referral to oral surgery, as well as the need to get clearance from my doctors before preceding with dental care. I appreciate her taking necessary precautions to prevent complications. I would definitely recommend her. I’m so glad I chose Chisholm Creek and Dr. Horning for my dental care.

First time at this dentist office. Adahlia, the dental assistant, was SO kind and welcoming. She gave me a tour of the facility and was so gentle with my teeth polishing and flossing. Angela, the dental hygienist, quite literally made my day. Her unfiltered sense of humor and personality are hilarious and she made a sometimes nerve racking experience full of smiles and laughter. Instead of small talk, we connected through her blasting her music and showing me videos of the concerts she’s been to. She was also very gentle and efficient with my teeth cleaning and told me I had a beautiful smile! I might be coming here for the rest of my life lol

The dentist is very professional and address all my concerns regarding my dental care; however, as the business office it's not so much. They never notified me that they are no longer accepting my insurance policy until after the treatment for my family and this happens between the 1st and 2nd visit; we used to pay 20% of the cost with insurance and now 85%. Better check before you get your dental care with them.
