About Choices in Dentistry

Choices in Dentistry operates on East Washington Street in the Chicago Loop area of Chicago, Illinois. Holistic, or biological, dentistry applies standard dental diagnosis and treatment within an approach that emphasises material choice and conservative treatment, considering oral health as connected to the body more broadly rather than treating the mouth in isolation.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. Where is Choices in Dentistry located in Chicago?
Choices in Dentistry is on East Washington Street in the Chicago Loop area of Chicago, Illinois (60602).
What days is Choices in Dentistry open?
Choices in Dentistry is open Monday through Friday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Choices in Dentistry offer?
Listed services at Choices in Dentistry include Holistic Dentistry. The full list is shown on this page.
What is the difference between holistic and cosmetic dentistry?
They overlap but are not the same thing. Cosmetic dentistry is about appearance specifically, while holistic dentistry is a broader philosophy about material choice and treating the mouth as connected to overall health, which can apply to any treatment including cosmetic work.
Is biological or holistic dentistry more expensive?
It can be, since ceramic and composite materials and more conservative techniques sometimes cost more than the cheapest alternative. Pricing varies by practice, so it is worth asking directly rather than assuming.
How can I look after my teeth between appointments?
Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between the teeth daily covers most of it. Limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount consumed.

TLDR: Myofunctional therapy with Toni has been an A+++ experience. She's an exceptional therapist and coach, and optimizing tongue posture has benefits far beyond my mouth -- improving my breathing, posture, and overall well-being. I am nearly complete with my therapy with Toni after several months now, and the experience has exceeded my expectations. For years I'd known that tongue posture was important, but I hadn't consistently practiced it, nor really known proper technique, which I now know is key. Now I truly understand how foundational and integral it is. Improving tongue posture supports better breathing and airway function, which positively impacts the nervous system and overall health. I have a very narrow palate, which presents challenges with tongue posture, airway and breathing. On top of that, Toni recognized several mannerisms that suggested myofunctional therapy could improve my breathing, posture, and more. I appreciate that Choices incorporates this holistic approach into its care. Toni is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate on this subject and in turn an outstanding coach. The exercises can be challenging - require engaging very specific muscles, and not others. You need a therapist who is patient, adaptable, skilled at explaining concepts in different ways until they click. Toni is and does exactly that, and she genuinely cares about her patients' success, customizes treatment to each person's anatomy and needs, and makes the process enjoyable and effective. Before starting therapy, I was considering other interventions for my palate and breathing. I believe myofunctional therapy is the essential first step. Much like establishing the proper foundation -- footwork, balance, stability -- before improving other aspects of golf or tennis swing, building the right foundation first allows everything else to work better. Since starting therapy, I'm now much more aware of my tongue, lips, and facial muscles. I've noticed improvements in my speech, smile, facial symmetry, neck and jaw tension, posture, headaches, and breathing. I'm incredibly grateful I got to work with Toni - she's passionate and skilled + a genuinely lovely person. I highly recommend her to anyone considering myofunctional therapy. Additionally, the entire team at Choices deserves recognition. I've been a patient for years and have always appreciated their holistic, integrative approach and commitment to exceptional care. Everyone - from office manager to dentists and support staff - is professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in their patients. I highly recommend the entire practice.

I am so grateful to have found Toni for my myofunctional therapy! She provided the most thorough initial evaluation I have ever had. As a healthcare provider myself, I admire her attention to detail and enthusiasm for patient care. No stone is left unturned with Toni. I would recommend her care to anyone!

I’ve been coming to the dentists in this practice for over 20 years. They are truly exceptional. Caring, honest and don’t recommend any frivolous procedures. Highly recommended.

After my dentist in the suburbs retired, I was I need of a new practice. Somewhat daunting. But a friend recommended Choices in Dentistry. Without a doubt, this is one of the most professional dentist practices I’ve ever experienced. In fact, a medication I was on for years was negatively impacting my gums and I had no idea until their examination… due to their work and consultation I’m on the right path. Beyond this, my dental hygienist was also thorough and professional. I wholeheartedly would recommend this practice to anyone

This is the best dental practice I have ever visited. Dr. Sutherland is very proactive and caught things that previous dentists ignored or trivialized. Everything runs smoothly in the office and the hygienists are somehow both extremely thorough and gentle. I highly recommend this practice.

I’ve been going to Choices in Dentistry for a few years now, after switching from another biological dentist. My experience has been nothing short of wonderful. I’ve seen several hygienists and I believe all the doctors. Everyone has been incredibly professional and informative. I love that they take the time to hear out your concerns and educate you on best practices. They take their time and never rush you through an appointment. I came in with severe dental anxiety and they were all so patient and compassionate with me. It’s helped me get over it. This location isn’t particularly convenient for me, but given the stellar care, I’ll be back every time.

Dr. Solecki is the best dentist I’ve ever been to. He has a calm, reassuring presence while also demonstrating strong confidence in the care he provides. Every time I visit, I feel certain that I’m receiving the highest level of treatment and genuine consideration. The duality of his abilities—being both exceptionally skilled and genuinely personable—truly sets him apart and is above comparison. Before I forget, he is by far the best dentist I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend Dr. Solecki to anyone looking for exceptional dental care.

This place is truly a gem. When it comes to dental care, they are simply one of the best — I’ve ever experienced. I’ve been to many dentists throughout my life, but this office took my level of care to an entirely new level. I have never been to a dental team that explains everything with such detail, patience, and genuine passion for what they do. I came in with some of the worst pain I could imagine due to work done by another dentist, and from the moment I arrived, I felt heard, supported, and truly cared for. The compassion, professionalism, and dedication from everyone in the office is unmatched. They go above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable, informed, and confident in your care. I am beyond grateful to have found this incredible team and highly, highly recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional dental care. Dr Floro and this amazing group of doctors, thank you! Thank you for your compassion, your caring. I will be forever be a patient and forever grateful for what you have done for me to feel better.
