About Columbia Periodontal Associates
The St. Andrews office at 3527 Bush River Road is the practice's home base on the western side of Columbia, an easy run from the I-20 and I-26 corridors and from Irmo and Seven Oaks. Columbia Periodontal Associates fields four periodontists, Dr. Dustin C. Hedgpeth, Dr. Mark L. McEntire, Dr. Sohee K. Park and Dr. Roy L. Faulks III, each a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Three sister offices on Devine Street, Clemson Road and Old Chapin Road in Lexington widen the map considerably for anyone commuting across the Midlands.
Soft tissue grafting is a signature of a practice this size, and it addresses a problem people usually notice as sensitivity before they notice it as recession. When the band of tough, attached gum around a tooth thins, the root surface becomes exposed; roots carry no enamel, so they wear faster and register cold sharply. A graft takes tissue from the palate or uses a processed donor matrix, tucks it under the existing gum, and rebuilds that band. Coverage of the exposed root is often achievable but not guaranteed in every case: how far the recession has already progressed, and how much bone remains between the teeth, set the ceiling on what surgery can return.
The rest of the surgical range is the full periodontal one. Pocket reduction, guided bone regeneration, crown lengthening to expose enough tooth structure for a crown to grip, sinus lifts and ridge augmentation ahead of implants, extractions, frenectomy, biopsy, and exposure of teeth that have not erupted for orthodontic treatment. Laser periodontal therapy is available as an alternative to conventional flap surgery in suitable cases, and non-surgical scaling and root planing remains the starting point for most new periodontal patients.
Gum disease is managed rather than cured, which is the honest framing to start from. After active treatment, maintenance visits on a three- or four-month cycle exist because the bacterial population rebuilds on roughly that timetable, and skipping them is the single most common reason treated pockets come back. The Bush River office keeps weekday hours with an earlier close on Friday.

Friendly staff and Dr. Faulks did an amazing job with my husband’s surgery. The entire team is great!!!
I always have a pleasure experience at Columbia Periodontal Associates. I am especially grateful for Dr. Park and her team. They do a good job making me comfortable, explaining things to me and are very supportive. It makes a dental experience bearable. They clearly consider the needs and concerns of their patients. If you are in need of such services, I highly recommend them! Also, the Clemson Road location is a beautiful facility and located in an area that is easy to get in and out.
Great Experience! Every one was very professional
Appointment with Mark L. McEntire, DMD, MSD at the Bush River Rd location exceeded expectations. Easy scheduling, friendly and knowledgeable staff, nice office with easy parking, professional, efficient service with an excellent periodontist.
Had an extraction yesterday (root canal gone bad) performed by Dr Dustin Hedgepath, with Emma assisting. From my perspective, and the look and feel of things inside my mouth today, the service I received was A1 friendly and professional really from the moment I walked in the door for the first time and having made my appointment less than 24 hours prior. Thx for putting an end to my suffering! I rarely leave reviews but that's the gratitude I have today!
The level of service is exceptional. The office team is kind, patient, professional yet friendly. Yes, the costs are extremely high, but everything about the experience exceeded our expectations. Shout out to Dr. Soohee Park, and to the wonderful woman in the finance/payment office!!
I was in a lot of pain due to an infection under my tooth. It ended up that I needed an extraction and Dr Park was so kind and gentle during the whole procedure. She called me the following day to see how I was feeling. She’s compassionate, understanding and very professional. Can’t recommend enough!
I recently had a procedure done at Columbia Periodontal Associates, and while dental work is never something you look forward to, the experience was genuinely positive. The team was professional, patient, and attentive from start to finish. They explained the process clearly and made sure I was comfortable throughout. What stood out most was the thoughtful care afterward. I was given a small recovery bag with a toothbrush, soup, pudding, applesauce, mouthwash, an ice pack, and a handwritten thank-you card signed by the staff. That level of detail says a lot about their culture. Clinical skill matters, but kindness matters too. This practice delivers both. I would confidently recommend them to anyone needing periodontal care.
I had a tooth pulled recently and it was by far the best visit ever for dental work. Everybody was so nice and reassuring. they took such good care of me all the staff are the best The day of my procedure was flawless the are a well oiled machine I was in and out I had some pain the night I got home but after that I was pain free. Recovery was a breeze no problems They even sent me a Thank You card for letting them serve me Great service I’d give them Ten Stars Thanks so much
I was referred to Columbia Periodontal last year. I had a very bad experience with a root canal in the past and was very apprehensive about having another one. Everyone in the office was so understanding and compassionate, assuring me this experience would be different. It absolutely was. Everything went smoothly, the staff are so supportive, the doctors are very knowledgeable and efficient. I recently had an implant procedure and the staff knows that you need to rest and have soft foods afterwards. They sent me home with a goodie bag so we didn’t have to stop and buy special food for the day of recovery. I would definitely recommend their services.
