About Columbus Aesthetic & Family Dentistry

One chipped front tooth changes how you talk in a meeting. So does a crown that has drifted a shade away from the teeth beside it, or a bonded repair done a decade ago that now reads visibly darker than everything around it. Columbus Aesthetic & Family Dentistry, in Suite 300 at 2570 Brookstone Centre Parkway in north Columbus, works across both halves of its name: the routine maintenance and the appearance-driven work people actually take time off for.

Dr. Brett Helton has practised since 2001, and the office is equipped to make restorations on the premises. A CEREC unit mills crowns in-house, which collapses the usual sequence of prepare, temporary crown, wait for the lab, return, into one appointment for cases that suit it. A 3D cone beam scanner and digital panoramic X-rays support implant and reconstruction planning. Nitrous oxide is offered for patients who struggle to sit through appointments. Scheduling is split around a midday break: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 5:00 p.m., with Friday mornings only and no weekend clinic. Major insurance plans are accepted, and CareCredit and in-house financing are available for larger cases.

The hardest job in cosmetic dentistry is not a full set of veneers; it is one crown sitting beside an untouched natural tooth. A natural incisor is never a single colour. It is translucent at the biting edge, more saturated near the gum, and carries fine surface texture that scatters light in a way flat porcelain does not. Matching that in one unit means choosing the shade early in the appointment, before the tooth dehydrates under rubber dam and looks lighter than it really is, sending good photographs to the laboratory alongside the shade tab, and sometimes accepting a second try-in. Two matching central incisors are a more forgiving job than one. Veneers carry their own condition: enamel is reduced to make space, so the tooth stays veneered for the rest of its life. Bonding costs less and can be undone, but it stains and chips sooner.

The general side of the practice covers preventive care, fillings, root canals, gum disease treatment and TMJ complaints, plus crowns, bridges, dentures, implants and full mouth reconstruction. That breadth means a phased plan — stabilise decay and gum health first, rebuild second — can be delivered without moving between offices halfway through.

If jaw pain or waking headaches are what prompted the call, mention it when you book. A TMJ evaluation takes considerably longer than a routine examination and needs the time set aside.

An in-office CEREC unit mills same-day crowns, backed by a 3D cone beam scanner and digital panoramic X-rays. Nitrous oxide is available. Hours split around a midday break Monday to Thursday, with Friday mornings only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a single front crown harder to match than a pair?
Because the target is the tooth right next to it. A natural incisor changes colour from gum to edge, goes translucent at the tip and has surface texture, so one unit has to reproduce all of that to disappear. Shade is chosen early in the appointment, before the tooth dries out and reads lighter than it is, and the laboratory works from photographs as well as a shade tab. Two matching centrals forgive far more.
How does the split daily schedule affect booking?
The office works two blocks a day from Monday to Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to noon, then 1:30 to 5:00 p.m., with Friday running mornings only until noon and nothing at weekends. Longer procedures such as full mouth reconstruction stages or implant placement need to fit inside one of those blocks, so ask for a morning start if the appointment is expected to run long.
Should I choose bonding or veneers for a chipped front tooth?
Bonding is composite resin shaped directly onto the tooth in a single visit. It costs less, removes little or no enamel, and can be reversed or repaired, but it picks up stain and chips within a few years. A porcelain veneer lasts far longer and holds its colour, but enamel has to be reduced to make room, which is permanent. For a single small chip, bonding is often the proportionate answer.

Nice facility and welcoming staff but when asked if they were in network for my insurance I was told "No one in Columbus is in Network for TriCare" - like a fool I trusted them and now have a bill for over $200 and cannot see one of the many in network dentists for a year without paying more out of pocket for new patient x-rays. Not a great way to support the military community! I feel embarrassed and taken advantage of as a military spouse who doesn't know the area. I trusted them as professionals to help me and instead I feel tricked and lied to.

I can’t say enough good things about this dental office! As someone with serious anxiety about dentist visits, I was blown away by their attentiveness and positive attitudes. From the moment I walked in, I was in the chair within seconds. They thoroughly explained my treatment and provided clear, upfront pricing before we began. On top of all that, they saved me over $1,000 compared to other offices! Highly recommend for both care and affordability!
