About Comfort Dental Lomas

Comfort Dental Lomas is a dental practice on Lomas Boulevard Northeast in the Pueblo Alto area of Albuquerque, New Mexico. General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. I have be going to this location for a couple of years (5-7??) and it’s great! Service is almost always quick (affected by how busy it is of course) and the staff are always nice. I also have not ran into any issues with insurance/billing. I can’t see why I’d go to a different dentist.

I would not be comfortable being any level of sedated or impaired at this location. I went in for an exam knowing I would need some work done and left halfway thru the appointment because the basics of consent were not respected. The hygienist was awesome, if everything was like her, this would definitely be a 5 star review. The dentist was rude and dismissive and seemed annoyed that I had questions. Her attitude sucked but she seemed to at least be self aware enough to send someone else in to deal with my questions. The guy she sent in immediately started with this fake high pitched voice like he was talking to a child. It felt condescending I had a clear understanding of what the dentist did tell me and didn’t need to go backwards in the process. I wanted to discuss my options. He wanted to show me my X-rays. I said I didn’t need to see them because I already understood the issue, I just wanted to talk about options. He refused to continue the conversation. He pulled the screen around like he was gonna force me to look at a screen I already said i didn’t need to see. I was so unheard I decided to leave. He offered to take my bib off, but I told him I would do it myself. He continued towards me. I felt I had to rush to take it off to prevent him touching me. I went to the front desk to check out and he followed me out. I told him repeatedly I did not want to talk to him anymore. He told me how many years he had been doing this, etc. Nothing necessary or wanted. He was insistent on getting the last word in. I told him he was disrespecting the basics of consent and that didn’t seem to phase him. I could not imagine going back there and being any level of impaired and expecting him to respect my wishes since this very basic request to stop talking to me was ignored. He even insisted on telling me how much he enjoyed meeting me. He was on a weird power trip for sure and seemed to want to make me uncomfortable. If I was yelling or being rude, it would not have excused him acting this way, but that was not even the case. All I did was stand my ground and say what I wanted and needed. I asked questions so I could understand. I would think that is a very basic right when making medical decisions, but it seems like some folks at this place disagree.

I was super nervous to go to the dentist as per usual, but the staff here made me feel so warm and welcome! As soon as I sat down, Julie instantly put me at ease with her great personality and know how. They took X-rays of my teeth and gave me a game plan for my next visit. I have a chip in my tooth that has made me so self conscious, and the team reassured me that it can be easily taken care of by my dentist, Dr. Elizabeth Wilson (woo!!). It was a busy day, but I am looking forward to returning.
