About Comfort Plus Family Dental

Comfort Plus Family Dental runs a practice on Red Lane Road in the Roebuck area of northeast Birmingham, in the residential corridor between the city core and the Trussville and Center Point suburbs. The practice handles general dentistry for the surrounding northeast Birmingham community — multi-generational households, longtime homeowners, and the families that anchor the area's quieter residential streets.

Routine fillings cover a steady share of the schedule. The team uses tooth-colored composite as the default for most cases, handling single-surface and multi-surface restorations, replacement fillings when older work has failed, and the structural call between filling and crown when more tooth material has been lost. Beyond fillings, services include cleanings and exams, root canals, crowns and bridges, extractions, gum-disease screening, teeth whitening, and emergency dental care. They'll be willing to monitor an early-stage cavity through a couple of recall cycles when watch-and-wait is the conservative call rather than drilling immediately.

If you've been told several cavities at a different practice and you suspect the recommendations are aggressive, a fresh exam at a more conservative office gives you a comparison read on the same X-rays without sales pressure.

Patients searching for dentist for whole family in Birmingham, family dentist in Birmingham, or routine dental care in Birmingham who live in Roebuck, Eastwood, or East Lake often choose practices like this one for the residential proximity and routine focus. Comfort Plus fits that local pattern. The new-patient exam combines comprehensive radiographs, periodontal screening, and a treatment-plan walkthrough before any restorative work is scheduled. For northeast Birmingham families picking a regular general dental practice, this Red Lane Road office is a sensible first appointment. Bringing prior X-rays and treatment records from a previous dentist usually saves a redundant imaging round at the new-patient exam and gives the team baseline context to compare against current findings. Six-month recall scheduling is the strongest predictor of which patients catch problems early, and most practices will book the next visit before you leave the current one if you ask while you're checking out.

How can I help my child feel less nervous about the dentist?
Keeping the language neutral helps — avoid words like pain or needle, even reassuringly — as does booking a simple, quick first visit so the experience is uneventful. Familiarity does more than persuasion for most anxious children.
At what age should a child first see a dentist?
Guidance generally points to the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are mostly about getting a child comfortable in the chair and catching problems while they are still small, rather than about treatment.
Can a filling fall out?
Yes, and it is reasonably common, usually from decay developing underneath, from chewing something hard, or simply from age. A lost filling leaves the tooth exposed, so it should be looked at before the cavity gets deeper.

Comfort Plus has a new dentist. Welcome Dr. Chu!!!! She is amazing and has some gifted hands. OMG. I got a wisdom tooth removed today (hour ago) and she pulled it in less than 5 minutes (after the numbing kicked in)!!! She numbed me so well and I felt NO pain. It was over so fast and I was shocked that she was finished!! I almost cried, from the shock of it being over. Also, the vibe is upbeat, the staff is super friendly, and it just feels different. We loved Dr G but Dr C has stolen our hearts. I don't think anyone likes going to the dentist but this is not your average dental experience. Thanks Dr C for the experience and welcome to the East Side!!! 🫶🙏❤️😍🦷😁

I absolutely HATE going to the dentist. Well, I had the experience of being seen by Dr. Chu! Her as well as her assistants were amazing. I had one mishap that I knew was a possibility with the procedure that I had. Even through my frustration, they made it right! I have already referred Dr. Chu to friends and family members!

Have been going here for about a year now and I can definitely say they are some of the friendliest people you can meet. Dr. Chu is the new Dentist here, and she is an absolute dream! Ms. Pam and Ms. Ty are very polite staff members and I always have a good day when coming here. Even though I showed up very (very) late today (my own fault) they were all very understanding. You guys put the FAMILY in Family Dental ❤️ If I could give them 100 stars I would 🤣

Dr. Gutti is the kind of doctor you hear about in stories but rarely experience today. She takes the time to truly know her patients, remembers their families, and shows genuine care in every interaction. She is consistently kind, attentive, and always willing to help. Her knowledge and experience are immediately evident when you visit her. I’ve been seeing her for several years, and that level of care has never changed. She is truly one of the best.

I went there two or three weeks ago. She told me that I needed two teeth fixed. She put me on an antibiotic and pain medication. I went in yesterday to be told the had scheduled me for a cleaning. I talked to Karen/Kelley due to staff members given me two different names. She said I was scheduled for a cleaning and then to come back to have two teeth extracted. I never discussed having two teeth extracted with Dr. Gutti. I would have died if she removed a tooth. Let alone two. Now I have to question every procedure I have done, to make sure the procedure is correct. On my first visit, Dr. Guttie told me I had a cavity and the reason it was hurting was opened at the gum line. I told Karen/Kelley this and she was rude and said “this is what the records states”. Someone input the wrong information into my charts. I will Never go back there. The lady up front Karen/Kelley is very rude. And who ever input the information either input someone’s else information or was given the wrong information. Everything in this dental office is wrong. They do not keep accurate records. The receptionist is very rude. I will never use that dentist office again. The receptionist broke the HIPPA law. She is has been reported. I am handicapped. A white Mercedes was in the handicap parking place. They did not have a placard or a handicap parking tag. I called the police. I had to walk from the end of the parking lot into the building. By the time I got into the office my back and leg was hurting. I have a handicap placard. The police did come there and asked the girl to move. She was parked illegally. Officer Adger from the East lake precinct did not give her a fine. He failed to do his job accurately. I was told by Sargent Harris at the East lake precinct that Adger had only been there a year or less. No excuse. He should know his job. I had to come home and call my neighbor to help me get into my house. There is a reason for handicap parking places. The receptionist Karen/Kelley told me that Officer Adger asked her if she knew who I was. I left my name with the operator. She told him she did. He had no right in asking and she went against my privacy for telling him she did know who I was and apparently pointed me out to him. An employee at a dentist's office can release your name (and other limited information) to a police officer without a warrant under specific circumstances defined by HIPAA, primarily to help identify or locate a suspect, fugitive, material witness, or missing person. I did not fit into any of these categories. She broke my privacy law by telling and pointing me out to him. I was not a suspect. I was a patient at the dental office. I’ve been in touch with a lawyer.
