About Cornerstone Children's Dentistry
Children who arrive already braced for a bad time are the hardest patients in dentistry, and this West Ashley practice is organized around that problem. Dr. Paul Galloway founded Cornerstone in 2005 and has spent two decades treating patients from infancy through adolescence at 2075 Charlie Hall Boulevard, just off Glenn McConnell Parkway. The office itself works as a distraction: murals, a play area, a Lego table, video games, and movies during treatment. None of that is clinical, but for a nervous four-year-old the difference between a chair they will sit in and one they will not is mostly environmental.
What makes young children a different population to treat is that cooperation has to be earned in the room, at every visit, from someone with no particular reason to trust you. A first appointment is therefore weighted toward acclimatization rather than production — a ride in the chair, a look with a mirror, a count of the teeth, a quick polish. The exam itself takes a couple of minutes. Everything arranged around it is the real work.
Preventive care follows a six-month rhythm: comprehensive oral exam, cleaning, and topical fluoride varnish. Varnish is worth understanding, because it is not the rinse most adults remember from childhood. It is a sticky resin carrier that holds concentrated fluoride against the enamel for hours after the appointment ends, long enough to rebuild mineral in early white-spot lesions that have not yet broken through the surface. It will not repair a cavity that already has a hole in it, and it does not offset a bedtime bottle or all-day juice — those need a change at home.
Scheduling reflects a single-doctor office rather than a group. Monday through Thursday runs 8:00am to 12:30pm and then 1:45pm to 5:00pm, closed over the midday break, with Friday finishing at 2:00pm. New patients under two are seen for a first visit at no charge. Emergency care is available when a tooth breaks or gets knocked. Charlie Hall Boulevard sits back from the Glenn McConnell Parkway corridor, and most of the patient list comes from the streets around it — Bees Ferry, Grand Oaks, the newer subdivisions pushing out toward Johns Island. The trip is harder in the other direction. From the peninsula or from Mount Pleasant you are crossing the Ashley River bridges at whatever hour the appointment happens to fall, and with no evening slots on the schedule, that time has to come out of a school day.

The service here was great and Jerri the front office staff is very welcoming. They are very quick with the cleaning. Will be coming back!!
I took my twins here for their first dental visit at 19 months. Everyone was so friendly. The building itself is very clean and well decorated. They went above and beyond to make my girls comfortable. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a peds dentist!
Dr. Paul and his staff have become like family. We switched to them from a general family dentist that did not have the additional education and experience specializing in pediatric dentistry and we couldn’t be more grateful. They have stayed after hours to help us in an emergency and even after having a few procedures they are not afraid or nervous to go to the dentist at all but they know Dr. Paul will take good care of them. They also have the friendliest financial and front end staff and we are always welcomed with the biggest smiles. I could not give a pediatric dentist a more glowing review.
Both of my kids have come to Dr. Paul for many years and unfortunately both will be too old for their annual cleanings. The staff is super professional and communicate well. We love the atmosphere and Dr. Paul is always great at talking to my kids and encouraging them to take care of their teeth.
My kids LOVE Dr Galloway and the whole team at Cornerstone Children's Dentistry. Everyone is kind, caring and gentle. Thank you for making our experiences great every time!
I found out about Cornerstone when they came to my work for our job fair at St Francis, The ladies that I met were extremely friendly and answered all of the questions I had. I started having issues with the dentist we have been going to and decided to try Cornerstone and I am SO glad I did! The office staff greeted us as soon as we walked into the office! Our wait time to go back to start my sons cleaning was less than 5 minutes. Everyone there from the office ladies to Dr Paul were fantastic! I highly recommend this practice to anyone! My 4 yr old has never asked to go back to the dentist before, but asked this morning on the way to school if we could go back today and see everyone.
