About Cornerstone Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Cornerstone Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery provides dental care on Baltimore Boulevard in Westminster, Maryland. Oral surgery covers procedures beyond routine treatment — surgical extractions including impacted wisdom teeth, implant placement, and bone grafting among the more common ones. The distinguishing feature is generally that tissue is opened and closed as part of the procedure, rather than treated at the surface.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery covers surgical conditions of the face, jaw, and mouth, from wisdom teeth and jaw realignment through to facial trauma and reconstruction, carried out by surgeons trained in both dentistry and surgery.
Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.
Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.
Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. I've been to cornerstone multiple times now and every time I left wondering why I was dreading it as it is always quick and painless.A+ to Dr.Forshey and her staff.
Office staff are superb - the best! They were attentive to all details - exhibited knowledge, experience, care and patience. Highly recommend!
My daughter had her wisdom teeth out at Cornerstone last week. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, and Dr Forshey is kind, patient, efficient, and professional. The surgery was quick and well done and follow-up instructions were clear. The office was also very flexible with timing for the consulation and surgery and were able to fit my daughter in right when we needed it. The office was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.
OK first thing is not that important but I want to share anyway. Medical offices are always either ugly or trying not to be ugly but kind of meh. This is the most beautiful and tasteful office I have been in ever. Even the exam rooms are spacious and nice to be in. Is that the most important thing? No, but it’s kind of nice and I think it still says something about the people who work there. I’m happy also to add that I was really impressed with Dr. Forshey. And I think my 18-year-old son really appreciated her friendly and energetic manner and her thoroughness in explaining things without putting you to sleep. I’m fine, but you know how teenagers’ attention spans can wane. Finally, wisdom teeth surgery has come a long way since it did when I had it done 24 years ago. The information was great and everything has been thought of and is well explained. Basically a painless process to learn about and set up. Hopefully the procedure itself will be the same way. 😁
This was truly the best dental experience I have ever had. I had all four wisdom teeth removed last week and did not have a single ounce of pain. I was terrified of getting them out but it was so quick and easy, I would do it again with Dr. Forshey rather than getting any other dental procedure done. The staff are extremely professional and kind, especially Carly. She was super sweet to me after my extractions even though I was acting goofy. If I ever need any form of oral surgery or extraction, this is where I will be coming. Don’t go anywhere else, Dr. Forshey is the most kind and humble doctor I have ever met.
