About Cornerstone Periodontics and Dental Implants

Cornerstone Periodontics and Dental Implants operates on Transit Road in East Amherst, New York. Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not. Dr. Anderson does superior work. He also helped me to get a better understanding of my dental health and a workable plan to manage my dental problems. Everyone at the office is friendly and professional. I also had my teeth cleaned here today and was surprised by the high-tech tools used. It was quicker and a deeper cleaning than at most dental offices. Also the hygienist was able to get rid of some stubborn stains , which I am really happy about. I have seen Dr. Anderson for additional implants and am very pleased with the caring and knowledgeable care I received. Ten days ago I had a gum graft surgery. Everything went very well and quicker than expected. Recovery was a bit rough for me as a lot of my own tissue was used . The custom made mouth guard helped to keep the sensitive area protected and pain free during meals. I was surprised at how comfortable and nearly invisible the mouth guard is. The office uses the most advanced technology for all their services, including taking the impression digitally, which is more precise. I received compassionate, friendly and highly professional service. Thank you to Dr. Anderson and the staff!

Dr. Anderson is an excellent periodontist; he provided excellent care in extracting a molar and putting in an implant. All work on my tooth was completed at the highest levels of professionalism. His whole office team is excellent, too!

Cornerstone Periodontics is one of the best dental practices I’ve ever experienced. The staff is very knowledgeable, respectful and very trustworthy. I value their honesty regarding procedures they recommend or that they don’t recommend. And from the time you walk through the door, the office staff is very friendly and acknowledges your presence. I highly recommend this dental practice. I only wish their practice wasn’t limited to periodontal issues.

Today was my first appointment with Dr Anderson and his team. I was not expecting to be there for almost 2 hours but I’m not at all upset about it. They were very thorough. I knew before the appointment that I was going to need surgery and I knew that I would have some out of pocket expense. Everyone was so nice. They took their time to explain everything and answer my questions. I’m not at all nervous to go back next month for my surgery. If I could give them 10 stars I would.

I was scheduled for a gum graft and was worried that the procedure would have to be canceled due to an upcoming winter storm. Dr. Anderson called me personally the day before my appointment (it was a Sunday) to check in with me. When I told him I thought I could make it in, he said he would come in and that he would work to get an assistant in as well. Thanks to him, Michelle, and the staff who could make it in, I was able to get my gum grafts completed as scheduled. Dr. Anderson and Michelle were quick and efficient and had me out of there in no time! I was provided with detailed post-op instructions and Michelle called to follow-up the next day to make sure everything was ok. The staff at Cornerstone went above and beyond and I appreciate their excellent customer service!
