About Coventry Dental Care

Unit 6 of the plaza at 684 Ontario Street - the one anchored by the Swiss Chalet, east of downtown on Stratford's main commercial run - is where Coventry Dental Care operates. This stretch has quietly become a dental cluster, with Arden Park Dental a few doors west at 650, so the useful question for a patient is what separates them. Here the answer has less to do with the service list than with how the office is physically built and who that makes it work for.

Plenty of dental practices in a heritage city occupy converted houses with a step at the front door and a narrow staircase up to the operatories. Coventry is barrier-free by design: level entry straight off the parking lot, doorways and hallways widened enough for a wheelchair or a walker to turn, and an accessible washroom. If you have ever cancelled an appointment because getting into the building was the hard part, that is the specific problem this office solves. Parking includes free and reserved spaces immediately outside, which matters for anyone using mobility aids, arriving with a stroller, or driving in from the surrounding townships.

Clinically the practice covers the standard family range - checkups and hygiene, fillings, crowns, extractions, preventive and restorative care at every age - with sedation available for anxious patients and a defined approach to children's appointments. Laser dentistry is part of the toolkit, most usefully for soft tissue: reshaping gum, treating inflamed periodontal pockets, and small surgical procedures where a laser seals as it works, which generally means less bleeding and an easier recovery than a scalpel. It does not replace the handpiece on a cavity.

The practice states it is accepting new patients of all ages, and the schedule reads like a small-team office rather than a large clinic: Monday and Friday from 9 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. with a later 5:30 p.m. finish, closed Wednesdays and closed weekends. If you work standard weekday hours in Stratford itself, those Tuesday and Thursday late slots are the ones to ask about; if you commute out of town, the absence of evening or Saturday coverage is the real constraint.

A barrier-free family practice in Unit 6 of the Swiss Chalet plaza on Ontario Street, with level entry, widened hallways, an accessible washroom and free parking at the door. Checkups, hygiene, fillings, crowns and extractions for all ages, plus sedation for anxious patients, children's dentistry and soft-tissue laser treatment. Closed Wednesdays and weekends, with later Tuesday and Thursday finishes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the office wheelchair accessible?
Yes, and it is one of the clearer reasons to choose it. The office is barrier-free by design: level entry from the plaza parking lot at 684 Ontario Street, doorways and hallways widened enough for a wheelchair or walker to turn, and an accessible washroom. Parking includes free and reserved spaces directly outside Unit 6, so there is no long approach from a street spot and no step at the threshold.
What is laser dentistry actually used for?
Mainly soft tissue. A dental laser can reshape gum tissue, treat inflamed periodontal pockets, and handle small surgical procedures, and because it seals tiny vessels as it works there is usually less bleeding and a more comfortable recovery than with a scalpel. It does not replace the drill for most fillings. Think of it as one tool used within a treatment plan rather than as a treatment in its own right.
When is Coventry open, and does it see children?
It treats patients of all ages and states that it is accepting new ones, children included. The week runs Monday and Friday from 9 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. with a later 5:30 p.m. finish, and the office is closed on Wednesdays and at weekends. If you need an appointment that does not eat into a full workday, the Tuesday and Thursday late slots are the ones worth asking about.

Would not recommend. Take your business elsewhere. They refuse to deal with insurance. Too much work for their limited staff.

My 4 yr. old grandson lives with me 5 days per week and I take him to all his medical appointments, including therapy, as he is autistic. No other health service takes issue with me attending these appointments, except for this business who requires a parent to attend once per year or basically every second visit. They do not recognize non-traditional family structures, and provide no extended hours in an economy where people cannot afford to take time off of work. We won't be going back.

We have really appreciated the work, and care of the team at Coventry. They make the kids feel super at ease to the point where now they enjoy trips to the dentist (mainly because they get to pick a toy from the bucket when they’re finished). Regular scheduling. Good follow ups and they do direct billing for benefits too! Kids of 6 and 3 love it; my wife and I appreciate it too!! Super thankful. Free parking out front.

Coventry Dental has been a wonderful new dentist for my family of 4! As a nervous adult patient the calm and kind demeanour of both dentists and all of the hygienists I have seen makes the anxiety of visiting disappear. I feel so confident talking my children there, they look forward to going to the dentist now with the way they are treated as patients. My children always have every part of their exam explained to them in a way that is developmentally appropriate for their age and Dr.Kolanska always remembers my oldest has issues with textures and tastes and accommodates as best as she can throughout the cleaning and examinations without having to be reminded. I highly recommend this dental office for adults and children!

Both my children loves going to see Dr C. My kids are extremely shy, and even tho they didn’t say a word to him or the nurses, we were treated with the best possible care and they just “get it” . They made it fun and “safe feeling” for my children, after 2 fillings for my 6 year old, he was ready a couple days later for 2 more! Very nice receptionist, Dr”s and nurses! We truly felt welcomed ! I highly recommend this dentist !

Very friendly with our 3 children, great with the kids. Highly recommend Coventry Dental to any one who has fear of being in a dental chair or anyone with small children.
