About Dalton Dental
Dalton Dental provides dental care on West Gandy Boulevard in the Bayside West area of Tampa, Florida. Periodontics is the specialty focused on the gums and the bone supporting the teeth, handling more advanced gum disease, related surgical treatment, and — in many practices — dental implant placement, which sits naturally alongside that training.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.
Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.
Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.
Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts. I had a wonderful experience at Dr. Dalton office! The staff was friendly, and made me feel comfortable while explaining everything.
So sweet and great communication even during the exam.
I have been getting my dental needs from Dr Dalton for many years. She and her team are always professional and helpful. They are there to make you smile!
This dentist has alot to offer Tampa. Everyone was professional, nice, and kind. They took the time to make me feel comfortable. The aura of the place is welcoming. Pink is everywhere, which makes it more welcoming. A special thanks to Nelli for taking her time with the procedure I ordered. She really made me feel like I could come back anytime. I've been to a few dentist in Tampa, this has been the best experience thus far. Keep up the good work.
DALTON APPEARS TO BE PUSHING UNNECESSARY PROCEDURES. I came to Dalton as a new patient after not having had a cleaning for a couple years but with otherwise no big complaints. They diagnosed gum disease, requiring a "deep cleaning" under the gums, and they also said that two of my molars were so weakened by grinding that they risk cracking and need to be capped (total cost in the thousands). I went to another dentist (Dentistry on Swann: upscale, highly recommend!) for a second opinion. They recommended only a mouth guard at night and better hygiene but no invasive procedures. While there can be valid differences in opinion, both dentists measured my periodontal pocket depths to assess gum health. Dalton had many measurements in the 5-6mm range, while Swann had no measurements in that range (I was in the 2-3 mm range with a few 4mm). The magnitude of that discrepancy, and the different diagnosis of my molars (Swann assessed the enamel to be still looking very strong), feels quite problematic and has spurred me to leave this review.
Great first visit! Dr Dalton and her staff were very kind and helpful. Very comfortable atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
Extremely grateful to have found the Dalton Dental team. Dr. Hillary's work is top notch and felt completely taken care of every step of the way. The way they balance excellence, consideration, and kindness is greatly appreciated, especially when the nature of this work can be a little anxiety-inducing. Thank you!
SO Just after 2 yrs and 5 months and giving this place a 5 start review, for the first time I have to RECANT my review! Please be aware of her cosmetic work!! Let Me Explain, I went to Dr Dalton after recently Moving to Tampa, expecting to get her expertise on me having gum disease, and wanting to do some cosmetic work. I was completely not knowledgeable on Veneers, bridges and how it would affect someone with severe gum disease like myself., However that's why we go to professionals. I was a Cash paying consumer , and yes the place is nice and clean, and the staff is nice, but NONE of that matters when you later find out that you have wasted over 10k for ONLY your upper cosmectics, ( I have checked around and I actually could have gotten my whole mouth done for that price) I was told that the procedure along with dental follow ups would last up to 10-15 years . Well after only 2 yrs I have A VERY BAD LIFE THREATENING GUM INFECTION
