About DC Precision Dentistry
DC Precision Dentistry is a dental practice on I Street Northwest in the Northwest Washington area of Washington, District of Columbia. General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work.
Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.
Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.
Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.
Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.
Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. Recently I made an appointment with DC Precision Dentistry for a routine cleaning. I gave them my health care coverage info and was told to come in for the appointment. When I arrived, the man at the front desk checked my insurance card and said they were no longer in my health provider network. He offered no apology for his office providing me with bad information and wasting a portion of my morning. Before I could even finish a sentence, he cut me off and said goodbye. Well, that's about the most unprofessional experience in a dentist's office I've encountered. Their front desk people need to look for another profession. If that's how they treat you when you walk in, what can you expect once you're in the dentist's chair? There are better providers out there, surely.
High praise for Dr. Deckard and DC Precision Dentistry! As a 60s and early 70s kid, I had a lasting impression of unpleasant experiences that the dental toy chest simply couldn’t erase. Dr. Deckard and his team provide EXCELLENT dental care and are really tuned in to their patients. From top notch cleanings to skillful and considerate procedures to an excellent play list, DC Precision Dentistry is the full package!
Hygienist Amy and Dr. Deckerd are highly skilled and personable. They guide me through the process and answer even the most redundant of questions.
I’ve been seeing Amy Wu for over 20 years - she is the most experienced, kind and fun hygienist to work with. Dr. Deckard is very helpful and clear in his advice and also easy to talk with. Rarely can someone say they enjoy going to the dentist but I can!
The staff at DC Precision Dentistry is always professional and attentive. Dr. Decker is thorough and willing to explain procedures so I feel comfortable. I have received consistently high quality dental care here for decades and happily recommend them to anyone looking for a dental practice.
A+ Dentistry services!!! I've been a patient for over 18 years and highly recommend Dr. Deckard and his wonderful and friendly team. Tomas, my dental hygienist always takes great care in making me feel comfortable during my cleanings and services. He is kind, thoughtful, gentle yet thorough during any dental cleanings and procedures.
