About Dental Care of Westover Hills

Dental Care of Westover Hills operates on Potranco Road in the Far West Side area of San Antonio, Texas. At the core of a general dental practice is preventive and restorative care: checkups, professional cleanings, fillings, and screening for decay and gum disease before either becomes a bigger problem. It is the kind of appointment most people need on a routine schedule rather than only when something hurts.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts. I am very satisfied with the staff there at Dental Care of Westover Hill. Especially with my nurse who is very friendly and courteous. I have yet to leave the facility in pain (that's a good thing). Continue with your excellent work and I'm looking forward to my next appointment. Thank you Sandra 😀

Went in as a new patient. Received an initial exam and a cleaning and that process was routine. The dentist came in and recommended changing the type of material I had for my older fillings. When they created the estimate of the cost and what insurance will pay, I agreed to have the procedure. I did not anticipate the insurance denying the service. The dentist did not provide overwhelming evidence that it was "required" according to the insurance. End result, I am on the hook for the entire $3K service. When I walked in, I said I am not interested in any additional services. I felt like was not heard as a patient and they just proceeded to book a procedure because regardless of what the insurance pays or does not pay, they have you sign a form that you are completely liable for the cost of the service. Recommendation to patients at any dentist office, wait for the insurance to come back with a determination especially when it is not medically necessary. This way you can make an informed decision instead of agreeing to a service that insurance does not think is "necessary". After appeal, the insurance came back and still denied. Dental office sent me the bill to pay the remainder. This office has lost me as a customer because I don't feel anyone should be treated like this. I would rather go back to IDEAL dental before coming here again. Just not worth the rash. Additionally, they did not schedule the next 6-month appointment. It just comes as a reminder by email causing the customer to call and make an appointment. You should schedule the next appointment before they leave the previous appointment. There is an abundance of electronic interaction and no personal interaction, it is just not worth it. Very disappointed in this practice and hope that people are more informed about how to approach services in any dental practice. By the way, IDEAL dental is a volume business, they just want to get you in and out as fast as possible. They have like 8 people in at a time and the personnel just go down the line. So, there is that also. Listed for context.

Dr Cevasco is very knowledgeable. He recently installed a dental bridge after removing a broken molar I had. He did an excellent job and was very caring during the whole process. He clearly explained to me the differences between getting a tooth implant or a dental bridge and after giving his recommendation, let me decide on which to chose. Cristina doesn't just clean your teeth she explains her process to you and also the importance of every practice you do at home like brushing and flossing. I was impressed on how she is able to explain her whole process communicating fluently in either English or Spanish. Kudos to Dr. Cevasco and to all his team!!

I was watching TikTok videos. I came across a video of a woman talking about dental care of Westover heels so I took it upon myself to schedule an appointment with Westover Hills and I went to the dentist and we talked and I had a tooth that was loose and the nurse said that the doctor probably won’t touch me because I had to have a referral from my PCP well once me and a doctor talk he was like you know what looks like you’re in pain. I’m a go ahead and remove it anyway so he did that and I think that is one of the best things that the doctor can do thank you doctor and staff For your professionalism look for working with you again future thank you

Dr. Smith and the anesthesia doctor Dr. Watkins were absolutely the kindest most compassionate individuals i have ever come across. We travel full time and in all the medical fields we have ever dealt these two are by far the most amazing i have ever met. I recommend them for any and all dental work you may have. They deal with the insurance for you and help you get financing if you need it. Seriously 10 out of 10 I cannot recommend enough a better duo to help you find your smile ❤️
