About Dental Emergency Associates

Based on Evers Road in the Near Northwest area of San Antonio, Texas, Dental Emergency Associates is a dental practice serving the area. Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.

Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.

An extraction removes a tooth that cannot reasonably be saved — from advanced decay, severe infection, impaction, or overcrowding ahead of orthodontic treatment. Done under local anaesthetic, the appointment itself is not painful, though soreness for a few days afterward is normal.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway.

Beyond any single treatment, most dental visits start with an examination — checking for decay, reviewing the gums, and looking at existing fillings or crowns — often alongside X-rays where there is a reason to look between or beneath teeth. That groundwork is what a dentist uses to explain any findings and set out next steps before you leave. My mother (94 years young) called me on a Saturday morning with tooth pain and swelling in the gums. I called Dental Emergency Associates when they opened and got an appt for 11 am. The wait was not long - just time to fill out a few forms. Dr Cole diagnosed the problem as 3 broken teeth that were infected and needed to be removed. He did the procedure with as much care as he could, making sure my mother was as comfortable as possible. He did a great job, and we left his office at 12:20 pm. Prices were very reasonable. So glad we found him!

My wife was in severe pain for over 36 hours and we couldn’t get help at University Health San Antonio after waiting more than four hours. We found Dr. Michael A. Cole through Google reviews, and they are absolutely accurate. We called around 3:00 p.m., and Dr. Cole made himself available around 6:00 p.m., even after office hours. He was extremely kind, gentle, and professional. The tooth extraction was done with great care, minimal pain, and the relief was immediate. The cost was very reasonable for emergency, after-hours care. We are incredibly grateful and highly recommend Dr. Cole.

The best dental experience I’ve ever had. Dr. Cole’s office was responsive, kind, and efficient. They got me in within 45 minutes of calling for an emergency tooth extraction on a root canal that got infected. I was in serious pain and couldn’t work or sleep. Other “emergency” dentists in town couldn’t see me for at least a week. So happy this place exists for actual emergencies. I don’t know how I could have waited a week for another dentist given the pain I was in. Dr Cole didn’t try to upsell anything. He just laid out my options, his opinion, and let me decide best course of action for me. He was even willing to refer me to an oral surgeon instead of taking the work himself. I decided to go ahead with him, because you can tell he cares about his patients and what’s best for them. Really easy going and fun bedside manner. No one wants to have the kind of tooth pain I had or a removal, but he really made the procedure as relaxing and comfortable as it can be. Didn’t have any pain, not even during the injections. He is very careful to do it right. The extraction was really fast and completely painless. He wasn’t in a rush, and was very attentive. All of my questions were answered clearly. Highly recommended. I don’t plan on having any more emergencies, but if I do, this is the only place I’ll ever go. Also learned he also does preventative work as well, like regular exams and cleanings.

My daughter was in so much pain due to the infection in her tooth. I googled for an emergency orthodontist and Dr. Michael Cole name came up. He was extremely professional and he put my daughter at ease. The whole procedure took about an hour! I highly recommend Dr. Cole and his friendly staff.

Dr. Cole was fantastic! To say he is so chill and comforting doesn’t do his bedside manner justice. He came in for me on call and was able to pull an infected tooth of mine and he was so gentle and kind and talked me through every step of the way so I had no fear or discomfort. His personality and talking about his wife and kids put me at ease which was a huge feat because I have a lot of fear and trauma related to medical/dental… and I was at a SOLID 10/10 on the pain scale. But he also really gets it- he spoke about his experience needing a dentist for pain before and you can really tell that he took that experience and his schooling and expertise and made his testimony a service to everyone he encounters. It was wild how much pain I was in— but he numbed me up quickly and I felt my body relax instantly 😂 don’t hesitate to give him a call for any of your needs! I couldn’t keep my bad tooth 😂 but that’s ok! I’m SO glad she’s gone 😂 I hope anyone reading this is put at ease that so many of us in the reviews had a great experience! The reviews are so accurate!!!! Thank you SO much! And God bless! Also- the entrance to his office is not on the bandera side! Google maps took me to the wrong way- it’s on the Evers side, around the building.

Dr. Cole has to be hands down one of the greatest that I have been too. He's helped me so much with any issue I have had, even going as far as taking a call after hours to answer questions. If you're ever needing emergency dental work done I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Cole! Thank you sir for all your help!

Words can't even explain how grateful I was to have found them on such a short time before they had closed, it was a Sunday. I was in so much pain and couldn't take it anymore. Dr.Cole was able to squeeze me in before closing and wasn't trying to sell me nonsense. Went into detail where the infection was located showing me x-rays and he understood what I was going through from personal experience. The tooth extraction was so quick and painless, as well as the receptionist :) overall great experience. Definitely recommend

I was having pain from fillings I got at a different dental office. They couldn’t see me for another few days but the pain was excruciating. Dr. Cole was able to help out during a walk in visit. His professionalism is outstanding. He broke down everything in an easy to understand manner. I don’t usually enjoy dentist visits but he has a very warm and welcoming personality which made me feel comfortable & made the process smooth

Visiting SA from Houston. Here for the Final Four. Had an old root canal that became infected, sore, and tender. Went to see Dr. Michael Cole at 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning. He was wonderful and has a great concern for anyone having tooth pain. He was very reassuring and I started taking antibiotics and felt better within hours. Now tonight is Championship at the Alamodome and I can enjoy!
