About Dental Specialty Associates, PC

Dental Specialty Associates is a multi-specialty practice in Downtown Manhattan on Broadway (Suite 101, 225 Broadway), with a six-specialist team focused on the work that general dental practices typically refer out — periodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and orthodontics/pedodontics. Patients are most commonly referred in by their general dentist for procedures that benefit from specialty training and equipment. The team includes Dr. Rashmi Ambewadikar (Pedodontist), Dr. Cho and Dr. Foroughi (Endodontists), Dr. Wayne Maurer and Dr. Norman Gold (Oral Surgeons), and Dr. Jessica Schwartz (Periodontist).

For specialty care, the practice offers oral surgery — wisdom teeth extractions, dental implants, bone grafts, sinus lifts, and cyst or abscess removal under Drs. Maurer and Gold. Periodontics covers periodontal cleanings, scaling and root planing, pocket reduction, dental implants, and bone grafts under Dr. Schwartz. Endodontic care includes root canal treatment, tooth avulsion (knocked-out tooth) treatment, and toothache emergency care under Drs. Cho and Foroughi. Pedodontic and orthodontic services include traditional braces, Invisalign, dental sealants, and pediatric restorative care under Dr. Ambewadikar's specialty practice.

If your general dentist has referred you out for specialty work — wisdom teeth, implants, root canals, or pediatric — and you want one Downtown practice with all those specialists in one place, this fits.

The clinic uses the latest technology across all specialty areas, with the depth of a hospital dental department in a single Downtown location. The Broadway address is convenient for Financial District, Tribeca, and Lower Manhattan patients who would otherwise commute uptown for specialty care. Searches that bring patients here include oral surgeon Downtown Manhattan, periodontist near 225 Broadway, endodontist in Lower Manhattan, pediatric dentist in 10007, wisdom teeth extraction in Downtown Manhattan, and bone grafting for dental implants in NYC. The practice suits patients with specialty referrals who want consolidated specialty care without bouncing between multiple uptown specialty practices.

A Downtown Manhattan multi-specialty practice on Broadway with six specialists across periodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and pedodontics — offering implants, wisdom teeth, bone grafts, sinus lifts, and Invisalign for kids and adults.

This was a highly unprofessional experience at Metropolitan Dental Associates/Dental Specialty Associates. On 03/26/26, I saw Dr. Zabani, a periodontist, for a consultation. It was a long wait (an hour) in the waiting room. After a 2-minute exam, I was told I needed gum repair and that the office would submit the treatment plan to my insurance for approval. I waited several weeks with no news. When I called, Daisy, the office staff, stated she would check and call me back, which she never did. Upon calling again, I found out no paperwork had been submitted. Despite promises to rectify this immediately, 1 ½ months have passed with no action. My follow-up voice messages to the clinic manager, Natalie, have also been ignored. She never returned my calls. They filed the initial exam/X-ray claims but failed to follow through on the necessary treatment. To make matters worse, the front desk staff was unprofessional and hostile toward me as a new patient. I would not give them one star if I could. I advise everyone to avoid this clinic at all costs if you expect professional service and care.

RE: Formal Complaint Regarding Failed Implant and Lack of Communication I am writing to formally express my extreme frustration and dissatisfaction with the quality of care and the professional conduct of your office regarding my dental implant procedure. In less than one year, the implant and subsequent bone graft redo have failed. After discussing this failure with your team, I was informed three weeks ago that Dr. Aronof would be contacted to return and perform the necessary corrective procedure. Despite the severity of this issue, I have received no follow-up communication from your office in the twenty-one days since that conversation. Furthermore, my attempts to resolve this over the phone have been met with a complete lack of accountability. Every time I call to speak with Terry for an update, I am told she is either unavailable or on lunch. It is unacceptable that a patient left in this physical and financial position is being avoided rather than provided with a clear timeline for a solution. I originally chose this practice expecting a high standard of professional care, but the recurring technical issues and the current lack of administrative responsiveness suggest otherwise. At this time, I require an immediate update regarding the schedule for Dr. Aronof to complete the procedure. I expect a response by the end of the next business day to discuss how you intend to rectify this situation. Sincerely, Sandra

I had a very disappointing experience at this periodontist office. After a consultation, the doctor told me I needed a deep gum cleaning. After the visit, the front desk said the doctor doesn’t perform these procedures in that office. Today, when my boyfriend called, they confirmed the doctor does do deep cleanings, but then they reversed it again when I called and said my general dentist had to submit a prior authorization. This was completely wrong since the periodontist was the one who recommended it. I also tried to speak to the office manager, but they were always too busy. When I called again, I was just sent to voicemail. The lack of professionalism and follow-through was completely unacceptable. I would not recommend this office to anyone. If I could give no stars I would.

Zero stars for this practice. After the x-ray tech kept botching the image of one section of my mouth, taking the same shot several times, I finally had to tell her enough was enough. A full set of x-rays periodically is a necessary tool, and is generally safe, but excessive exposure to even low doses of radiation is not healthy. Then, the dentist came in and spent a couple of minutes, looking in my mouth before sending me to the periodontist, who was an arrogant, ageist creep, who didn't think someone "my age" deserved the dignity of making my own healthcare decisions. When I requested a referral to see the endodontist, he grudgingly wrote the referral, including disparaging me for wanting to try to preserve the tooth in question. The endo department would not do the exam without my paying $75 out of pocket for a pulp test. Since the perio had already prejudiced the endo by writing his opinion on the card, I decided that it would be a waste of money, time, and energy. I would have to try to find another practice that takes my insurance. When I got home, I called to request a copy of my x-rays, and was given a multi-call runaround over the course of the next two days. I finally went back down there, and after a long, ludicrous hassle, I asked for the practice manager on duty, and she, without even hearing the story, okayed the release of my x-rays to me on the spot. She looked as though I'd been the 100th customer that day to complain about the "care", and request portable records. So now, I'm adding my voice to the chorus of negative reviews, which I came across after my visit.

The most pleasant dental experience I've had. I got 2 root canals done at the same time and barely felt a thing. The dentist made sure I was comfortable and kept asking if I was ok. The staff is very professional and friendly. Definitely would recommend.

Was there the see the Periodontal , waited for over an hours . When I got called I sat in the dental chair for another 45 mins . The dental chair is filthy, look malfunctioned and the office is dirty , filth with dust. I asked the Periodontist what he sees from x -ray , based on the health of the gum and teeth. He did not have an answer. He inspected and poked my gums. Abs said to make a follow up appointment for no particular reason. I won’t recommend this place .

This place told me my insurance didn’t want to pay for my root canals or consultation so they told me I had to pay $75 cash to be told they can’t help me then between 1300 and 1500 dollars cash to get my teeth fixed only if it was that important to me. I can pay that cash and he will help me. I have a witness ! The dentist Even told me he could try to Negotiate the price but he couldn’t help me and he’s not going to because they will take the money out of his check. They refused to give me my records a refund because they didn’t help me and they lied about my insurance. I believe they are pocketing any cash that comes threw this business. I know have an infection throughout my entire right side of my face because this dr office is a scam! They also did the same thing to my neighbor who is a 17 year old girl. Not cool !!
