About Dental Therapy - Phoenix

Dental Therapy - Phoenix operates on East Glendale Avenue in the Camelback East Village area of Phoenix, Arizona. Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. What services does Dental Therapy - Phoenix offer?

Is sedation dentistry safe?
It is considered safe when properly assessed and monitored, which is why your medical history and current medications matter beforehand. Being open about those is the main thing that keeps it safe.
Will I be unconscious under dental sedation?
Usually not. Most dental sedation leaves you conscious but deeply relaxed, often with little memory of the procedure afterward. General anaesthesia, where you are fully unconscious, is reserved for specific circumstances.
What causes bad breath and can a dentist help?
Persistent bad breath most often comes from bacteria on the tongue and around the gumline, and gum disease is a frequent underlying cause. Because it is usually oral in origin, a dental examination is a sensible first step.

I just got done having a cleaning and 3 cavities done by Dr. Whiting and she did a phenomenal job. Even with the pain that typically comes along with dental visits, she was very comforting by talking me through it and focusing on my breathing. She was also guiding her new assistant through the process in a very authoritative and gracious way. She’s a good leader. Very grateful to have found her and this office. Highly recommend. Kyle at the front desk is also a sweetheart and does a wonderful job going above and beyond with his professionalism as well. Good humans here all around.

The dentist and all the nurses were very friendly and kind to me. I felt heard by the dentist and had a thorough conversation about all the issues with my teeth and my options to fix them moving forward. She answered all my questions and didn't make me feel stupid which is a big thing for me! It was the most thorough cleaning I have ever had and the music they played helped calm me from my bad dental anxiety! I was even 15 minutes late due to my 1 1/2 hour drive and they were very kind about it! Only "issue" I had was the building not feeling super sterile or dentist like to me. But, if you are one that doesn't like dentist offices, it felt more like walking into a welcoming home than a super sterile dentist office. The dentist did incredible work and seemed very professional and knew what she was talking about. Very patient and caring!

Dr. Whiting was compassionate, gentle & very informative. This is my second appointment & am giving her 5 stars again! Brenda her assistant is helpful & friendly. I highly recommend this dental practice especially cause it's a female owned, small business that accepts most dental insurance. Thanks again Dr. Whiting for your amazing bedside manner & sharing your depth of knowledge regarding my dental care needs! Still a patient here & no plans to change cause of my ongoing amazing experience.

Dr. Whiting and her team are truly exceptional. After years of struggling with persistent tooth pain, she identified the underlying issue that five other dentists had missed and successfully treated it. The entire process was efficient, thorough, and well-organized, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Dr. Whiting is incredibly knowledgeable and meticulous in her approach. I’m very grateful for her care and expertise.

I have been going to Dental Therapy for a year now. I like being able to ask lots of questions before agreeing to a treatment plan. Dr. Whiting is very knowledgeable and knows how to share the pros and cons of the available options. The treatment I have received has been very well done. She takes all the extra steps to make sure you have the best possible treatment and experience. I’m so glad I moved to this practice.
